I am looking for one 12" subwoofer but cannot decide which brand to buy. I was looking at JL, Rockford Fosgate, JBL, Audiobahn, Sony XPLOD, MTX, Eclipse, Kicker, and Kenwood W-series. Which of these brands would you recommend considering sound quality, bass and because I'll be putting it in a bandpass box. Also, what type of specifications should I look for when choosing a sub? My last question is, how do I know what wattage the amp should be after I get the sub and which amp should I buy? Thanks.

Why do you want a bandpass enclosure? My advice is to forget bandpass if you are concerned with SQ and get a sealed enclosure sized for the specific sub that you get. Out of the brands that you listed, I would look at JL Audio and Kicker. I don't care for some of the other brands.

 

Of the ones you mentioned, I'd say JL and Eclipse. And I'll second the recommendation to go with a sealed enclosure instead of a bandpass box. Amp will depend on the sub you get; get one that can drive it at the recommended wattage.
