Big bass to little bass, can I keep my wires?

I'm taking out my wooden amp rack, Kenwood KAC-929 amp, and JL 15W3 sub and putting in either an Infinity Basslink or a Bazooka sub. Right now I have either 2 or 4 gauge cables running to my amp. Should I use a smaller gauge cable when I put the basslink in? If I leave the thicker cable in will there be any difference? I also have a 1 fared cap that I'm thinking I may not need anymore, will leaving that hooked up make any changes in SQ or volume?

I know there's a big difference going from a 15"JL to a basslink but after weighing what I have now, I'll be happy to be lighter. I never listen to my stereo that loud anyways.
Thanks,
Matt

Just leave the thicker cable and the cap. THe thicker cable sure wont hurt and neither will the cap. The cap may help slightly, and again it sure wont hurt.

So Matt, how'd you like the sound of the Basslink? I did notice a hint of disappointment from you after listening to it though

No, I actually thought it was a lot better than I expected. The only disappointment I had was thinking of how much I spent on my 15" sub and amp when I really never listen to it that loud. My friend Josh was pretty impressed by it too. He said the rattles were coming from the Bose speaker grill and when he held it down to stop the vibrating, he felt a nice solid hit. I'm think I'm gonna order mine after I hear the Bazooka 10". They have them new at www.ikesound.com for $240. I can't wait to be light again.
Thanks for the listen.
