Need help with installation of rear speakers - 1998 Maxima
I have a 1998 Maxima. To save some installation costs ( those who have read my posts know exactly what I am talking about) I can have a friend this coming weekend install my rear speakers. I think to replace the door speakers, you have to remove part of the door, don't know if he can do that or not. Anyways, i need some help from you guys in instructing me of what is required to replace the rear speakers. I am replacing 2 6 1/2 Panesonic (came with the car)rear speakers. I am putting Boston Acoustic FX6 6 1/2 speakers in place of those.
I just need a list of how to remove the grills, or whatever is necessary in succesfully changing the speakers.
Now, would this cause any complications in having a professional audio place install the rest of my stuff. Such as
2 front door speakers
2 amps (1 for sub, 1 for speakers)
1 Eclipse Cd Player Head unit
I do not have bose as you can see, and for the time being, if i only replace those rear speakers, i would think the stock head unit would have enough power to power those back speakers. I really need your help on this one. If you can help that would be great
thanks alot
bryan
p.s The individual works mostly with gm vehicles, so that is why i am asking, because i don't know if anything is different when working with a Nissan

There has been a slight change of plans. First, this weekend, i want to have those 2 speakers replaced in the back, but I also might end up having the cd player installed to. Now, i know i need a harness of some sort, could someone tell me what i need. Also, if i plan on having an amp power the speakers instead of the Eclipse headunit, will that cause problems for now up until i can have the amp installed. Let me rephrase that. If i have the cd player installed this weekend and have that just power the speakers, and then once i have the rest of the stuff professionally installed (like the amp), will they have to screw with the stuff to get that to work.

i dunno about your car, but i have a 93 and i would think it would be the same way to replace the rear speakers. The first thing you need to do is unclip the back seats from the rear deck(mines has 3 pins that slid out from the deak lid). the just pry the carpet stuff off from the metal...has fiberglass of some sort on the underside so it won't comeapart. You may have to remove the 3rd brake light if you have one to get it completely off. The screws that hold the grill on are on the underside of the carpeted area, if you wanna replace those. Then, the screws holding the factory speakers can be unscrewed and new speakers in. It is kind of a pain with the window there.
As for the amp...all you have to do is run speaker wire from the amp to the speakers in the front doors and rear deck. They factory wires to the speakers will not be used if you're powering them with an amp...but the shop will know how to do it if they're installing it.
hope this helps.........blake
(this was for the speakers in my car, maybe diff. with yours)

Is there any websites that offer graphical depictions of the installation process? That maximadriver.com is nice and gives good detail, but I didn't know if there were other sites out there that give pictures along with written description. I am going to browse the web
just let me know if you know of any
thanks
