Had a horrible time installing things (kinda long)
OK, first off .... i got my all my interior stuff in the mail yesterday and i was so excited .... So i'm gonna try and install it and save a few dollars .... so i get everything ready and i'm going to install my new pioneer deh-6400 .... i can't pull off the dash pieces .... i keep trying .... nothing .... ok so then i try and install the front speakers i can't get the door cup release thing off .... no go .... so i give up and i go to circuit city, and they tell me it's gonna cost 172 dollars to install the HU and the speakers .... so that gave me motivation to install the back speakers .... not gonna happen .... i finally gave up ....
where did i go wrong?
where did i go wrong?
well.... take it one step at a time
First of all... the dashboard pieces are easy to take off.. Pry up the piece around the shifter, take it out.. There will be a couple of screws on the inside.. take them out.. The upper vents in the center, with the radio... also pry out.. There are like 4-5 screws holding the middle center peice of the dash A/C + radio.. it's really not hard.
About the speakers.... I don't know... haven't taken mine out yet

If you live closer, I can give you a hand.
Don't give up. The speakers are so easy to do. As far as the doors, it was pretty easy for me to take them off, just try again. The center console should be easy to remove too. Just have some patient. Before I was hesistant to do stereo stuff myself, but after I done the speakers, I said to myself, "that's it?"
I know if I can do it, you should be able to. I also swapped out headunits a few times, and it didn't seem hard either. Go give it another try. You'll be proud of yourself once you finish the install.

I think there's a screw that hidden by a little plastic nub on the inside of the cup. Check it out, I'm not sure if I remember it correctly.

i thought that you had to take the piece around the door release, where the lock is .... but maybe not

Also, make sure you've disconnected and removed your window switches and your door lights before you do this.
i just did what you want to do...i used www.maximadriver.com directions...just go to the "How2" and then in the column with cosmetic mods...go to "Install a basic stereo system"...everything is there...hope this helps
