Need your help on tweeter mounts

Guys, I am getting from someone on .org used MB Quarts 6.5 Preference series components, but the seller says he has only flush mounts, no angle mounts. I wonder what the difference is and if angle mounts are available @ car radio shops, if they have to be MB Quart-specific. If they can be bought, how much???

My car came with a 4-speaker setup, there are no tweeter holes in A-pillars. I planned to mount them on the front door panels on those black triangle trim pieces..

I have Kenwood components in my car and my tweeters are "surface" mounted on the sails (black triangles). Very good imaging in these places, I believe. As far as flush mounting, this simply means that a hole has to be cut out for the size of the tweeter so that it sits "flush" for whatever surface that you are mounting it on--such as in a door panel. It gives it a "cleaner" look as compared to "surface" mount where the tweeter sits outside the surface area. The angle mounts are just brackets in which the tweeter sits in where the user can "angle" the tweeter to his/her liking for better imaging. I'm not sure if you can buy the mounts seperately, for that they are only made for that particular brand of speakers. More than likely, they should have came with the set. If not, you may have to contact the manufactuer on getting the parts. I hope this helps any!

yes it does help, thanks. From what you're describing, I'd have went with either surface or angle mounting as they require the least cutting of the plastic trim...Not sure if the install shop would charge more or less depending on my fav. install method. Do you think if the angle mounts are missin, it is fair that the seller gave me an add'l discount?

As far as the surface mount, there is only the two small holes that are going to be drilled into the surface. Actually, these are the "screw" holes for the bracket to be mounted on to the surface. Here, most commonly, the tweeter "twists" onto the bracket. As far as your preference, more than likely you may have to pay more for flush mounting , since this requires more labor and modification. They usually have you pay more for any additional parts that are needed, also. If I were you, if your familiar with car stereo installations, I would save your money and do it yourself. It's relatively not so difficult. Plus you'll feel proud because you did it yourself.

you are right..But I think that angle mounting is the best solution here.

go with kickpanels!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. lol. if you can that is. they will give you the best imaging. i think the triangle pieces on the doors may be too close to the listener's sitting in the drivers seat and the front passenger seat.

the goal is to have an equal distance from both left and right speakers to the listener. that is close to impossible, but getting them as close to equal is better, that's why kickpanels are so good.

well, the ideal solution is to buy a loaded Benz. I am trying to save the loot here, partners, thats why I am going with USED components. The price seems to be attractive but all of a sudden I started feeling bad about buying used online...MB Quarts 6.5 Preference Series PSC216 components for 150 bux shipped...break it down to me ppl..seller has no angle mounts. wazzup? Buy or not buy?

how old are they??? that price is really attractive, as those sets go for like 280 and that's a good price in itself.

i'm cheap too, that's why i'm getting my self some DD 6.5 mids ($89 shipped) and some vifa xt25 tweeters ($75). and that combo is supposed to be damn good for SQ.

the DD mids are supposed to be the best bang for the buck, and they are up there with the focals and other high end stuff.

sorry for going off.

Vic, he said he'd used them for 6 mos..but he is a newbie and no references/doesnt disclose his name. I dont really feel comfy dealing with him, truthfully, I'd rather pay 20 dollars more and buy from the store.

Whats SQ???
Where are you buying your DD (Diamond Audio) from, what model, and also tweets? Do tweets come with crossovers? What if we have a min-GD for two?

Maybe you are right...but MB has very impressive specs 40-32000Khz
60-130w rms...hook 'em up to an amp they scream..but I read so many review on the net that those MBs blow up like a ****. What do I do..I want a quality good sounding components under 180 at my door.
