I need Alarm Recommendations...

Well, it's that time. I'm in need of an alarm. As I continue to modify my car, it becomes more appealing to thefts eyes. Also, I'll be installing a $2000 stereo system soon, so I think it's time that I get an alarm for my car.

What would you guys recommend? I really have no knowledge about alarms.

Thanks,
-Nick

Get motion sensors and glass break sensors. If you want options like trunk release and the ability to let your windows up and close your sunroof, some alarms have those available. You can get stuff by Alpine, Clifford, Crime Guard, DEI, Hornet, and Viper. The last three are actually made by the same company (if I remember right), so get the one the fits your budget.

Actually Clifford, Hornet, Viper, and DEI are all made by DEI. Do yo want an alarm or a security system, there is a difference the second will cost money but will help you keep your car. I install and have for several years and for security would not go with anything but either a Clifford or a Viper (DEI's top of the line). both of these offer great options like dual open starter kills, code rolling (the real kind), and several channels to hook up anything you want in your car. Just remember it is not the alarm/security system you buy it is the install that is done on it.

Very, very true. I have a Viper alarm. It was originally installed by a local shop that messed up the installation. The relays stopped working after about 2 months. The alarm (sound) stopped 2 months after that. After haggling about everything for a couple months, the shop finally gave me a refund. I went to another shop over an hour away and bought the exact same alarm and have not had a single problem with it in the 3 years since it was put in.
