Alpine IVA-c 800? (Please help) Really Long

My friend gave me his old IVA-C 800 which I started to install in my 1997 maxima. I have some questions that you probably hear a lot.

Question 1
When I hook up the power, ground, etc, the unit beeps and automaticly powers on and deploys when you start the car. Is there way to have it only deploy when you hit power or open/close?

I may have wired it up wrong. The unit has a blue remote wire and a blue and white power antenna wire. I think the the way it is wired is that the power antenna is controlling the amp turn on, and the remote wire(blue)is not being used. I tryed hooking up the remote to the remote and the antenna to the antenna, and the amps didn't turn on so I switch it back.

Question 2
How the heck do you get the T.V. to stay on when you are driving? Can I by pass the protection system.? This is really annoying. But safe I guess.

There is a yellow and blue wire (foot brake) and yellow and black
(parking brake) or vice versa. What color wires do you jump in the max
to make it work. I saw that Multimedia control timer (video switch)
or is there another way. May be wiring in a switch or something.

Question 3
I sometime have to help push the T.V. up. I hear they do this when they get old. Is this true or false? Will it brake by doing this?
I hit open and push the corner of the screen to get it completly up.
If so, can Alpine repair this.

Sorry for being so long. I have my car in peices so any information will be extremely helpful.

Re: Alpine IVA-c 800? (Please help) Really Long

Just in case you are stil having problems. To your first question you have to have the hand break active to do. Just go to the menu and scroll down you will see the option on weather or not you want the screen to open and close when you start the car. Then the only time it will open when up hit the open/close on the unit or the remote.

On your second question. There is a device that will allow you to watch the TV while you are driving but this is illegal. If you do a seacrch on ebay you can find them. Also you could do it yourself its a matter of just connecting the foot break/emergency break wires differently I forgot how to exactly do it but either on these boards or go to Google and do a search and you will find how to do it. I had mine done for me so I have a little switch that i flip when I depress my foot break and then i can turn the screen on and off.

On your third Question. THis may not be right but its a try. have you tried the screen leve adjuster that the screen has on the unit. they are the up and down arrows that are on the top of the screen. The screen will open to the last position every time. So lets say I have the screen at a slant twards me then I close it. THe screen will open at that same angle next time I open it untill I change the level.

Hope tis helps if anything either go to the manual if you dont have it download it off the alpine web site it is a pdf file which has everything except for the TV on while you are driving. Good luck.

Thanks

Thanks for all of your info. Since noone answered back I had to figure
it out by my self. I did what you have, wired a switch for a ground and tapped the brake light wire.Press the Brake Then hit the switch and it deengages the protection.
Is there a way to keep the CD screen locked in instead of the screen saver. I try and it kept switching back to the speaker screen.
What were those two website (google and alpine).
The problem is not ajusting the screen it is the diployment. It pops out fine it's the flip up part that it has trouble. While it is coming out I have to hit the up arrow key and push it a little to make the screen viewable. Does anyone else get this or is it just mine being old. Thanks JHOVAmax for all of your help.

There is a way to have the scren locked on one screen just push and hold the SPE.ANA button and when you here a beep and the screen switchs you will be all set. It has two more screens but I prefer either the "speaker" screen saver or just looking at the info. Just be careful of burn in. Yup the two sites were google and the Alpine site. With the screen situation It might be because its old, you might have to call Alpine or go to a Shop to get it repaired. Hope this helps

Re: Burn in

Burn in is what happens to any screen that has a Static image on it for extended periods of time. What happens is that over time the Image becomes "burned in" to the screen leaving a "ghost" of its image on the screen. Nothing major really It can happen to you TVs at home and you computer screen also. It happens with Video Games mostly on your regular television sets. Dont worry too much about it though it takes some serious screen time to do that.
