Regarding what amp to use with what set of subs.
What's up guys, I got a 2k Maxima, and I was thinking of putting in some new subs, and I was considering one of the following setups...
I was not sure if I should go with a Fosgate 800.2 amp with 2 12W3's, I know that is alot of power for them, but I have heard from quite a few different sources that the 12w3's are underrated, and can do 400 watts to each. Also, if I do the fosgate / 12w3 setup would I have good chances of blowing out my subs? :/ Lastly, if not, should I go with a JL AUDIO 500/1 amp into the two 12w3's.
So if I go with the 12's, I would want to know should I go with the 500 watt amps or the 800 watt fosgate amp. Some people live and die by fosgate, some say they suck, and most people have said the jl audio amp is good. So not sure what to do there.
The other possibility would be to hook up 15W3's to the fosgate 800.2 amp? What do you think about that, they do 400 watt rms, or would that not be enough power going into them?
Thanks for all your help!

You will be ok using either amp. (IMHO)The JL amp is probably better than the RF amp but RF is still a pretty good sub. 800 watts will not damage the sub.
There are many good brands of amps and subs, all to often people recommend what they own or sell as the only real deal. For me it often comes down to where the best deal lies. In my car annd truck I have Alpine, A/D/S, Hifonics and DEI and they all are very solid. The biggest determinant to what amp to buy is speaker impedance.
If the (2) speakers are 4 ohm DVC Go with a 2 channel amp
If the speakers are SVC 4 Ohm, go with a 4 channel amp or a 2 Channel amp that is 1 ohm stable to get the most power out of you amp for the $$$.
