Question about component install.....

I just bought the new Polk EX3 components for my 1998 SE, I was wondering where the best place to mount the crossovers are...The owners manual says NOT to mount them in the doors because of weather damage...Wheres the safest/best place to mount them ??? Thanks

There is no reason you cant mount them in your door panels. There should be no worry about weather damage. One of Nissans Stock tweeter locations is in the doors. I Mounted my tweeters in the doors and havent had any problems. The only other places that are easy are the A-piller or the sail panel. (triangle piece Where the side mirrors are.)

Well, it all depends on how the rest of the system is installed. Does you Max have that plastic lining inside the door panel like mine? If so, you can mount it to the metal door panel and just use some plastic zip ties to firmly attatch in OVER the plastic and just cut some small holes in it to get the ties through. Just make sure your mounting location doesn't interfere with putting the door back on. The plastic should keep any moisture from getting to the xovers.

If you are mounting the tweeters in the doors then the xovers in the doors isn't so bad. If you're mounting them in the a-pillars or somewhere else then you'll need to not only run speaker wires into the door but also out of the door as well. So take that into consideration too.

I put my focal's in the door. No problems yet. Once you take off the panel you can see if you have any leaks in there. If there are no leaks go for it.

I put mine in the door panal. I wraped my crossover in a plastic bag and taped the it up. I doesn't look pretty but no one is going to see it.

put them in your kickpanels. The only down side is that you will have to run 3 lines into your door through the stock boot. One for the line input and the other two for your woofer and tweeter outputs.

I haven't had any problems yet. Been wrapped in plastic for about 2 years now.

I don't THINK passive xovers put out any heat...at least none that I've ever owned. Electronic xovers are a different story.
