why won't my speakers work?

I have no experience with car audio or anything electronic at that. When i bought my max, there was already a kenwood tape deck headunit installed along with the factory bose speakers. I bought new speakers and i'm not quite sure how to wire them. I want to use the original pods. i cut the front right speaker wires, i used some sort of leads to connect the + white and green, and the - black and white to one of the speakers but no sound comes out, same with the ones i tried with the back. If you could help me out it would really be appreciated.
thank you jon

You need to get rid of the converter the previous owner used that made it possible to use the Kenwood deck with the Bose speakers.
