Do my system myself ??

I have an entire new aftermarket system for my 1998 SE....I was wondering how hard it would be to do the install myself, and what tools, tricks, info I would need...Thanks

Go to the How2 section, and there are two articles on installing a system in a Maxima. Bottom line yes you can do it if you have the time. And if yuo have any problems or any questions, post them hhere, and you'll get all the help you could meed, and save a couple hundred $$$ to boot!

If you are electrically inclined, you should be able to do it yourself. From the sub perspective, follow the manufacturers recommendations. If you are not good with a skill-saw and don't have a table saw for proper board cuts, have a store like Home Depot do the cuts for you.

Take your time, make sure all cables are properly secured, and read every FAQ and how-to you can find on the web before starting the project. DO NOT take short cuts or skimp on materials unless you want to pay for it later.

Good luck, and may the farce be with you...

Important questionso you have Bose now? Are you also installing an amp to run your highs? (components and coaxs). If you answered yes to the first question...save yourself time and money and make the second question a yes as well. To bypass the Bose is a lil more work than just throwing in a headunit. A shop would usually charge accordingly too. If you eliminate the Bose completely and add the second amp now....youll be better off. Also I see your in NY,depending on where, you can shoot down to NJ for some help. No I am not a store, nor am I trying to get a customer in the door....but I can help. If you wanted ME to do it ALL. then that would be a different story.

Well if you have the Bose....and your changing your radio and interior speakers..your gonna have alot of fun. Basically a rewire job either way. If you just keep the Bose speakers and change the radio it can work, but you need the Bose adapter harness. Normally not a very cheap item.

You should be able to do everything yourself, including the head unit, you don't even have to be all that electrically inclined, basically if u can read you'll be good, i'd bypass the whole bose system because you have no need for it from what u say ur putting in, it's actually easier to do an install i think with an amp, don't have to spend as much time screwing with the headunit in that tiny little space..., anyone can do it themself, and with the money u save u can get more stuff
