install of aftermarket head unit?

install of aftermarket head unit?

if i were to install a pioneer dvd screen head unit in my 2001 maxima....will i still be able to use my volume controls and stuff thats on my steering wheel?

No...As far as I know thats not possible...the remote is wired to the factory deck and an aftermarket HU will not have anything to interface with the stock remote. Ive heard of it happening but it would require some serious electronic know how.

Actually I was doing a web search last week and I think you may be able to do it. Look for a company called Pacific Accessory Corp. or P.E.I. One of these comapnies makes an interface to link the steering controls with most aftermarket units. I will let you know if I find the link.
