Your opinions on the Clarion..

I'm about to purchase a used clarion vrx8271 with the indash 5" LCD. I have only read slightly on the net about it's specs. Can you guys give me your opinion on it. Also I would like to purchase a DVD/MP3 player to hook up to clarion. I've seen a whole bunch on e-bay, would anyone of them hook up to the clarion or do i have to purchase a clarion one? Also would the clarion let me control the dvd/mp3 head that I connect to it. Thanks.

Clarion makes excellent headunits, however, it's well known that their speakers, subs, and amps suck a$$.

The newer in-dash LCDs headunits they make all support DVD and MP3. It's a VRX925, I can get you one for $1375 shipped anywhere in US.

I've heard tons of complaints about reliability..

Just this year. I went out to the local places, more than one, and they all said they were trying to avoid them until they get their issues worked out. I told them the new LCDs were great, they agreed but said they werent comfortable selling them right now, but hoped to soon. They entry level up to high end ProAudio stuff was giving them problems. They were loosing money from having to install and reinstall all the units.

Dunno, I love clarion, I really want their newest 925, but I'm waiting to see what the problem is. Btw, look on ebay there seems to be alot of refurbished new models (kinda odd). I even saw a new 925 and the picture had a line in the LCD. the guy said they wouldnt fix it, so he was dumping it. thats scary.
