trip controls not working after new HU install

I just installed a new Pioneer 7400 in my 02 MAX. I must say, i am loving it. This car has *****. But getting back to my ?, after my install, the trip controls on the steering wheel does not function . But the trip screen does havea display. When i called Crutchfield, they said i would definitly lose my audio controls, but not the trip controls. I know that i would need to buy a product by PAC to get back my audio controls, but not for my trip. Has anyone got any clue on how to fix this without buying another piece.

From what I have read, you need to buy that control for both to work. What HU did you buy and how does it fit in the stock local?

All you need to do is find a brown wire from that extra harness that went to the bose unit and ground it.

This is for a non-bose car.

I beleive it should still have the same harness. You don't have to buy PAC interface just to get your trip working. If you look at PAC instructions it will tell you the same thing that the brown wire needs to be grounded. that is all there is to it.

OK guys, this is the deal. This came from Crutchfield. The PAC is only for the audo control, not the trip. From what they have told me that is not needed for the trip controls. They are still looking into a way to fix the problem thought and they have been very helpful, and is really trying, so i guess that is good.

Matt(mattattax) had Cartoys install his set-up for him using the SWI-X adapter. Both trip and audio controls have been working for him fine and dandy.

You are right, PAC is for the audio control. BUT, the trip button is only using one wire (brown) which needs to be grounded to make it work. Why don't you go try it and let us know.
