2k2: Non Bose Headunit W/ Aftermarket Speakers?
2k2: Non Bose Headunit W/ Aftermarket Speakers?
I WANT TO KEEP THE FACTORY HEADUNIT(NON-BOSE) SO THAT I CAN KEEP THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. AT THE SAME TIME I WANT TO ADD SOME NEW SPEAKERS MTX 5000 MID RANGE(REAR DOOR) AND INFINITY REFERENCE(FRONT).DOES ANYBODY NOW THE RMS PER CHANNEL COMING FROM OFF THIS HAED UNIT???
approx. 15watts per channel. It will handle your MTXs but as with any car. The stock radio usually only sounds good with stock speakers. Go for the new radio.
just my $.02

I could definitely hear the difference just swapping out the speakers. 15w may not sound like much, but given some aftermarket headunits are within the same range it's still good enough.
I've never had the reason to turn the volume up higher than the 12 setting. Most of the times it's in 8 or 7 and at those volume's there's harldy any distortion.
