Project Advice: Replacing BOSE 2K2

So I've decided after listening to yet another day of rattling and weak highs to ditch the BOSE. It officially sucks. We all know it. Anyhow, I want to keep the HU for looks purposes. Aside from that, we're going all new. I need reccomendations, I have a few questions below to help guide...

4 Speakers, or Component? I'm not sure what I want to do, nor have I any experience with stereo installing in this kind of car before. Will I need to put in all new wiring? And if so, how much of a PITA is it? Reccomendations on amp location? And finally, what would you put in a) the pillars b) the doors c) the rear deck (formerly known as rattleville???? Any, any help would be great, thanks so much in advance.

Get the components and some good wire for the speakers (12-14 guage). Installation is not very hard but it is time consuming. I would put the amps in the trunk. I used accoustical damping sheets from Mcmastercarr.com and carpet padding.

After extensive thought, I finally decided it was not only easier but better (for SQ purposes) to replace everything.
