Putting Tweeters in Upper dash Vents
Putting Tweeters in Upper dash Vents
I have a 98 GXE and am seriously considering putting tweeters in the upper vents on the dashboard (these vents help clear front door windows/I think on defrost). Has anyone ever done this? In the winter when heat is passed through here, would it damage a tweeter. I'm probably not going to put expensive tweeters in at first just try the concept. And yeah I already know... if you want to put tweeters up high, buy the SE next time.
I dont think it would be a good idea...based on what you have already stated about the heat. Why not put them in your door panels? There's prolly a good reason why you dont want to put them there...but just a thought.
You can put them in the vents and they wont get damaged.. I know because my friend who is a tech at Northern Auto Radio in Queens was gonna do it with a tweeter that came with my TV.. He said it wouldnt get damaged from the heat or the AC.

Two problems with the defrost vent. First is the sound will be angled off the windshield. With carefull aiming this could sound okay. Otherwise it could sound like $hi+. Other problem is that when the fan is turned on, it will really screw up the sound. Not to mention the performance of the defrost fan. The sail panel is a ten times better location.
