most likly, however look for patterns when it goes out and stuff, its its completly random, maybe it has somehting to do with road conditions and stuff, if its at the same time, well, hmm

It sounds like you just got it installed, what about a warrenty?

Circuit City has a lifetime warranty on their installations. Set up an appointment and have their installers look at the problem at no charge to you. If you don't get results ask to speak to their store manager.

I played with it more and found that the bass will hit on low volumes the whole song, but when I turn it up so the car next door gives me a dirty look my bass goes out and there dirty looks turn to grins!!! So only at high volumes is it random hits.

it's most likely a loose connection or even more likely, your amp is having some cool-down problems, thus it is shutting down when it overheats

I love that, except i only do it during the afterschool rush. this involves a 4 lane road (35mph but 55mph when were let out ) and about 300-400 high schoolers driving home along with 25-30 buses. its funny though, ever since i got my subs, everyones really started to look upto me, more than before. also its fun because when i pull upto the line, normally people think that I have no go, (well used to anyway), but its fun. who knows, just a bunch of kids having fun, atleast we dont harass the freshmen anymore, actually sophmores talk alot of ****, but in the end, they're 15ish so....
ok anyway, good luck and take advantage of that warrenty, its fun.

Look on the amp for the clip light...Is it flashy? Did you touch the gain settings? Is it real hot when you turn it up? If anyone of these things is happing I know whats wrong.

heres my latest report:

After reading the post by Max'nOut I went back out to my car, to "play"...I started at low volume, got higher, until about 20...which really isnt that much...now my power button turns red into "protect mode" in my amp manual is says that means either: its overheating, short circuiting or blown fuse, my fuses are fine...I think, I believe its just overheating, its under my front seat, how do I keep this ***** cool!!!!!

Thats what I figured, It's starting to overheat and go into protect mode...What amp is it? Does it have a clip light, if so turn it up as loud as you listen to it and see if it comes on...We can go from there.

you have 3 choices 1) need to mount it in a more ventilated area, 2) buy a cooling fan, or 3)turn down the amp so it doesnt overheat as easily

if you need fans you can use computer 80mmx80mm fans. theyre 12volt and are pretty cheap. i like thermaltake.
if you get the 38mm thick ones they will pump out more air at a lower rpm creating less noise. you could consider a blower or even water cooling (i may do, but then i would be a true nerd, well maybe not :P)
anyway, just look around, seeing how everyone is case modding these days, you can pick them up anywhere. next thing you know, well be over clocking cars (oh wait hehe).
well i have my secret lights. look on my website under computer for it. its blue and not the modded led in my mouse.
anyway, just hook up some 12volt fans to it, save money and stuff, enermax has some easily controlled ones, where you can control the speed of the fan, and thermal take has some temp controlled ones.

trunk mount, preferably on an amp rack would be your best option, although box mounting where it would get air would work too.

Find out from Circuit city how these W3s are wired up, also how they are wires to your amp. They may be at too low of an impedance for this amp. Most likely the case. If you are not familiar with doing this they get the installer at CC to tell you. Then tell him to quit his job because he doesnt know WTF hes doing!

It can be tough to keep a non-class D powerful sub amp cool when its mounted under the front seat. My amp pushes about 525W rms, isn't a class D...powering an SPL sub...and in my old Acura, I used to have to roll with my back seat folded down (it was mounted to the back of the rear seat), or else it would overheat. Hopefully when I get it in the Max, the little pass-thru window will be enough to keep it cool.

I love that, except i only do it during the afterschool rush. this involves a 4 lane road (35mph but 55mph when were let out ) and about 300-400 high schoolers driving home along with 25-30 buses. its funny though, ever since i got my subs, everyones really started to look upto me, more than before.
Heh...if I was you, I'd take it easy around the high school, especially if you're talking about the one you go to. We dont want to see you posting on the .org about how your stuff got stolen. Personally I waited til I was out of high school to put beats in my ride. That's the prime place for people to pick up on your beats and start schemin' on how to get 'em.

C.C. trys at all cost to wire everything at 4 ohms or as high of an ohm load as they can...They don't like low ohm loads ..But in any case he is now getting a different amp so it don't matter for now.

I have amps under the seats, I just turn on the fan or AC and they stay nice and cool with a breeze directed right at the heat sink. They do not even get more then "warm"

Well if you havent' figured out what your problem is by now, lemme do my best to fix it. Your amp is overheating, obviously. Why you ask? Too much power being asked by your subs perhaps. What type of subs do you have? If you have normal 4 ohm subs, and both of them are bridged, you could be trying to get more power from your amp then it can handle. This is what DVC's are for, being able to bridge both subs without overheating your amp, that is if you wire the subs to 8 ohms. That is why the bass stays on at low levels, because not all of the power of your amp is being needed to power the subs. I remember having these problems with my very 1st system.
