What do u guys think about these amps
I looking at a new system for my 2k2 max. I went to justamps.com and i am looking at BOSS Audio and Crunch amps. They have a great deal like 2 for 350 dollars. I dont know the quality of these amps put there figures look astronamical. 100x4, or 200x2 bridged. What do u guys think about these amps?
Well...
...I can say for most of us that have been on this board for awhile that this horse has been beaten to death, brought back to life about seven times and beaten to death yet again.
Check the specs - if the amp throws big numbers at you and they have the word MAX somewhere following them, then you don't want to mess with them. Generally, amps like this are pogeybait for the uninformed. Crunch amps I don't know a whole hell of a lot about, but BOSS will probably start to stand for 'Buy other Stuff, Stupid!!!' I'd suggest that you don't waste your $$$ on these kinds of amps unless you just can't wait, can't afford to get better quality - or simply don't care.
Good luck on your system!

Re: Well...
One of the amps was 100 watts rms not max. Even if it was 100 watts max then it would be 50 watts rms, which is still not bad. I wasnt to know if boos or crunch pushes clean power. 350 dollars is the max i want to spend on amps . I live in brooklyn, and i know i can go to china town and get any amp for half of the price of crutchfield. My friend bought an audiobahn amp there for 200 dollars and it pushes 50 watts rms per channel of CLEAN power. Im asking if The BOSS or CRUNCH push clean power rms, I they dont can someone recommend amps that do. THANKS
No, Boss and Crunch dont really push clean power. In order to recommend an amp, we need to know what your going to use it for. Subs, mids and highs, both?Whats the wattage your speakers will be able to handle?RMS not Max. Tell us what else you're going to be using and we can help you more. $350 is a tight budget for multiple amps.

Amplifiers can, in fact, have identical ratings and be COMPLETELY different amps with different outputs. One reason for this is what Pit5Bull was talking about with MAX power ratings. However, let me make a more accurate parallel that may or may not make sense. A typical cheap headunit will have approximately 22 watts into 4 channels RMS for a total output of 88 watts. No matter what the headunit, notice the size of the unit's chassis. They are often small (as they have to be due to the size of most openings) and therefore have less components to the amlifier section of the radio. Then you get a Soundstream Lil' Wonder. This has no posted specs, but most people tend to say the 4 channel version is about 20x4. That little amp is going to "sound" a lot louder than the headunit in question when technically the headunit has 2 more watts per channel RMS. This is due to a more "clean" signal coming from the amp.
"Loud" is not only measured in the music that is produced but also the noise the amp produces. This noise can be anything from alternator whine to static put out by the amplifier because of a bad ground, bad RCA's, poor signal matching between crossover and amplifier, etc, etc, etc. This noise, although usually faint, is drastically reducing your "clean" sound due to noise.
The point of this rant is to illustrate how different "off" brands like BOSS, Crunch, Soundstorm and others may advertise high wattage, but are nothing more than junk that will not only give you inferior sound, but will likely last you no longer than a year. Beware of marketing ploys and go with proven brands.
A cheaper amplifier that has go to excellent sound is Crossfire. They make excellent amplifiers and crossovers and I highly recommend them for entry level amps. DEI (Directed) also has amplifiers that are cheaper than most and have excellent sound. Look around and ask people who KNOW, not people who think they know. It is hard to find these people, but basically just look for someone who knows their stuff and is open minded to different brands and isn't dead set on RF or Kicker or whatever.
Lastly, only buy what you have listened to. If you like it, it doesn't matter what we think ...
Thanks so far guys, I am not changing the head unit because i have the navi and i dont want to loose voice. So i will buy rockford fosgate 6 and three fourths components(fanatic x), 5 and a quarters in the rear 2 subs probably fosgate He10s. A pioneer equalizer and 2 amps. In china town the grand total will be around 900 bucks. But im stuck on which amps to buy.
