WHo makes a converter or adapter to get line-level signal from my BOSE HU to the RCA inputs in an amp? 1996 GLE, if it matters...

Which models do I need?

I have done TONS of installs, and even I cannot make sense of what I need. I know I need the harness, but do I need the 2 or 4 channel PD-(2 or 4)? I want to add an amp and sub for now, maybe a set of components later (all on one 4 or 5 channel amp, though). I plan to leave the stock rears in place.

I used the PD2 to add a kenwood amp & 2 infinity 10s. It works well and has a builti in 35hz EQ. The wire harness will plug directly into the back of the Bose HU. If you want to add an amp and components, you'll need the PD4. You can splice the signal to the amp for your sub.

The guys at audiolink are pretty knowledgeable and respond to inquiries within a aday or two.

So I cannot run a 4 or 5 channel amp off of the PD-2, even if I use a single set of RCAs into the amp?

I would imagine that you can use the PD-2, but, you wouldn't be getting seperate front & rear signals, so you wouldn't be able to use the front & back fade. You basically only get right & left rear from the PD-2.

if you are spending this much time and effort to amplify a sub and new door speakers, buy a deck!

I got a Stinger line level converter from a local car stereo shop, $30...I hooked up an Alpine V12, powering a JL 10W3 to my stock 1997 Bose.

When you used the converter on your bose HU without having to buy a aftermarket HU, were you able to use the "bass" *** on the bose HU to control your sub? Or did you have to manually control the sub from the amp and sub. Hows the sound quality?

Yes, I used the rear speaker wires to get the signal for the line level converter. The stock bass control controls the rear speaker bass level(obviously), essentially also adjusting the signal to the converter, which is then passed onto the amplifier then to the sub. My Alpine has its own adjustments, so I could adjust it that way too.
I think the sound quality is very good, pretty clear. Not as clear as a sub receiving a signal via RCA's from an aftermarket head unit, but I was satisfied.
