Aftermarket Stereo Kit

Anyone know of a good looking aftermarket stereo housing for an '01 Maxima? Single DIN with a storage pocket underneath is preferred.

The one I have now is Black, and doen't match up too well with my greyish interior or the contour of my dash.

I may not be calling the adapter by the right name, but it is the adapter/faceplate that allows you to put in an aftermarket head unit.

Thanks everyone!

Go to your Nissan dealer and buy a GXE radio bezel and pocket. I did it to my 2K and turned out great. Alot better than the aftermarket kits.

Of course, the dealership has no idea about where that part came from! I have them researching it, but if you have a part number, I would appreciate it.

Thanks again...

2000 GXE DIN Opening Vent Trim Part Numbers

i got the parts you guys are talking about from my local dealer last week. the part numbers are:

68750-3Y110 - "VENT - CTR UP BLK" (Vent and trim around Double DIN radio opening)
68475-35F00 - "POCKET"

be forewarned, the dealer's parts computer shows a picture of this part and it only shows the vent part and not the trim around the radio opening so they may not believe you when you tell them "it has trim that goes around the radio too". order these exact parts. they're the right ones! i have pics of them! email me if you want me to send 'em to you.

good luck.

WooHoo! Got the parts ordered.

This is officially one of the best Forums I've run accross. In three days, I've found the Stereo Bracket I want, Figured out how to get my FM Reception Back, and learned that I can make use of the Bose Sub Hole in the back for, who knows what! And, hopefully I've helped a few people along the way. Sorry to be sooo Gung Ho, but I'm PSYCHED!

Thanks again!!!

Sure does. I have the Metra adapter in mine now and it looks terrible. The colors don't match, the trim doesn't line up and the seams don't meet. Other than that its OK!

Did you get your system installed with the GXE Bezel? I just finished mine. Everything fit fine, except that I had to shave down the plastic rim that goes around the stereo's face plate. But it sure looks great!

Thanks again for the part numbers!

I have the scosche kit lying around over here. Held it up to my dash the other day and it seems like it'll be a perfect fit. The gray color is 95% the same as my dash (note: i'm a graphic designer so i'm picky when it comes to color coordination) which will suffice for something that's less than $15 shipped.

My only complaint, if any, is that the texture is not as smooth as that of the rest of the dash.

If anyone wants close-up photo's i'll take some in the morning and post it back here.

I actually paid about $80 for the Bezel and $25 for the pocket. Just tell them that you had to do all of the work to find the parts that they couldn't find for you and they should give you about 40% off.

I know it is a lot of money compared to the cheap-o Metra stuff, but it is beautiful and pops right in with a truly stock/professional look. Nothing good is cheap, but I too hate being gouged by dealer prices.
