I've got Matt's bar installed on the car. It's essentially an identical piece. I have noticed that the car loves to push in the corner, but it's not any more than it was to begin with. I have noticed that the response is much more precise though. A quick twitch of the wheel definately is noticed. In a situation like a slalom, the car likes to dive in and out much quicker. overall, I am very pleased.
Also, the bar made by Matt (http://www.mattblehm.com) has some additional bracing as compared to the bar shown above. Thought I would just give my input.
BTW, you can hit a Coke can laying on it's side when dropped about 2 inches.

That bar looks pretty flimsy and is more $$$ compared to Matt's. It appears to me that that bar will just parrellelagram seeing as it doesn't have any diagonal braces. How 'bout Matt's bar with RSB? Still pushing like hel!?
Matt, which do you have? They got 'em powdercoated. I'd still go with you man. Do you have patents on any of your stuff? If so, does the patent not count because they designed it differently(less stiff)?
I'm using warpspeed's Stage II SFCs, and my prototype stII lower tie bar (first one I made.. I've chopped on it a few times to make the bigger exhaust fit, and more clearance, etc.) both mods were VERY worthwhile. would do it again in a heartbeat.
I'm powdercoating mine black now. too much overhead on them to make 10+ bars each for the 5 cars I'm building these on and have more than one color available. if I had my own powder rig, oven, and a warehouse to store them in, that's a different story.
As for the patents- this stuff is too easy to build and/or copy that there's no point in a patent. anyone that can bend pipe and weld can make thse things. in the 5+ years it takes to actually GET a paten, there would be too many people copying the work, plus the costs are outrageous on it (ever tried to do the paperwork needed for a patent or pay for one?), plus there are several other factors out there that just make it a waste of time.
Even if GT Fabs patented theirs, mine is different enough that it wouldn't make a difference if they tried to say anything about it. mine attaches to different frame points and is made with different materials, different design, etc..

Cool. I was saying that they copied you. Not the other way. Or maybe it was just coincidence that they came out at nearly the same time. I still like yours better. So, if its powdercoated then its powdercoated. But is it possible to paint over powder coating with a different color?
Actually, look at the date of the original post in this thread... GT Fabs has had the 4th gen one out for a long time. I got the idea from the Honduh crowd and was bored one day, so I welded one up for my 3rd gen... then 4th and 5th gen guys were asking me to build some for them as well- so I did it. GT fabs actually had their 4th gen bars out for months before I had mine.
as for painting over the powdercoat, I dunno. you might be able to scuff it with some sandpaper and paint over it, but I really can't say for certain. I'll try to remember to ask the shop when I take the next batch of parts in.
