The Max kix ax at Infineon!

Wow, a couple mods that really kick @SS:

1) MEVI
2) Hawk HP+ pads - the best pads by FAR that I have ever used.

New videos!

www.eleventenths.com/maxima/Infineon_Closeup.mpg (30 Meg)

or, I did some experimenting with windows movie maker...

Sure, we should get a few Maximas at one of these events, that would rock rock rock!

For info on these events, I would guess that the best bet for anyone around the country is NASA (national auto sport association) at

www.nasaproracing.com

check out HPDE (high performance driving events)
its NOT racing- but it will teach you how to drive alot better. And make safe passes. And drive fast and (ideally) in control and on the line. And probably get a few laps with open space to check your track time- but let the transponder or camcorder later that nite do this ;-).

Also there usually are a few other grassroots organizations that offer similar driving schools. The only requirement is passing a reasonable tech and a DOT legal (I think currently 2002+???) helmet. - BTW motorcycle helmets count so its ALOT more comfortable to drive with one of those- w/o the helmet covering up your mouth/chin.

NismoPower- where you located? Im in Santa Cruz- south bay area. Theres gonna be a great event may 14-15 at thunderhill which is a perfect track for a first go. (willows, CA)

Ilac- it was $149 for 80 min of track time... pretty decent deal IMO - especially when you consider that solo2 is around $50 for 4-6 min and you dont often get to hit 3rd gear.

I'm from Stockton, by Sacramento...I'd be down to go with you...the only tracks that I know are close to me or is the closest, is Laguna Seca and Infineon...

Are there any other courses???

Yep, thunderhill may 14-15 would be a good place to start- fun track, lots of runoff....juuuust in case

http://www.thunderhill.com/html/trackmap.html

Spaniard doing a lap at Thunderhill (24 meg, suggest rt-click and save)

(Thunderhill is about 2 hrs away from stockton)
Check out http://www.nasaproracing.com/nasa_event/list_events and get into HPDE 1- get an instructor who will ride with you, they are awesome for learning. - if you have around $250 to spend (gas, membership and track time) Last thing- you will have to get your car teched (its free if you get it done before arriving at the event at one of the shops that does it)

does anyone know anyone that actually brought their car up to solo 1 requirements?
I have run at Pocono a few times, but was wondering how you can configure your car where you can carry 4 people but still have the roll cage etc still in there.
BTW miata's are annoying at the track, they can eat you lunch in the twisties but you can eat theirs in the straights. I once decided to let a miata pass me on the straight to get more room, I had to slow down to like 60, I was going 100, I only did that once.

Thanks D

Yea, a woo or woo-hoo every so often just can't be helped.

That one was because the car started to get tail-happy coming out of the hairpin just as I was 1 ft from the wall. You can't really tell in the vid since it's up close (theres a slight rpm pause) but the correction prevented scrapeage=WOO!

BTW, I digitized another (long- 15 min or so) bit from that session, its the "Traffic Battle"... hehe. "only" 18 megs.

http://eleventenths.com/maxima/Infin...fic_Battle.wmv

Get your track car out there and I will try to keep up and get you some awesome footage from follow position!

Miata....check
NSX......check
STI.....check
mustang GT's......very check
Lotus elise.....check
HAHA
Not bad for a daily driven 9 year old family sedan!!!!

Lorin, Rob and Mike are all drooling over those vids now.
Lorin and I need to see your camera setup, I really like the view you are getting there.

Man watchin em videos of the Maxie whippn around these corners makes me wanna get the VictoRacers out and go see what up with all these WRXs around my neck of the woods tracks Excelent driving, I wish the videos where better quality thou.

Mind me asking why do you keep it at such low RPMs in some parts of the track ? Do you experience overheating problems at higher RPMs ? Or is it cause of lack of high RPM power ? No MEVI or VIAS intake on it ? Seems like a logical choice if high RPM power of the MEVI/VIAS is not avalible. Get a intake manifold and lets see what she can do ! I'm loving it

Well, specific to the Hawk HP pads, and mevi-
I can go a bit deeper into turns with the same level of comfort that I had braking a bit sooner with other pads. The Hawks just dont fade and after 2 events they also do not wear out nearly as fast. So I dont have to worry about running out of pad before the track day is over.
(I really need to learn how to swap in new pads.. any chance anyone know of a good writeup for the max/4 gen???)

The mevi- well, its faster, right? It sure as heel FEELS faster, winding it up to 7000 in 3rd. It also takes some of the guesswork out of shift points, just wind it up to the top in every gear. It sounds awesome IMO too.
And, on a totally personal and unproven note, I like to think that my intake delivers a bit extra from 80-100 in the top of third. (I do NOT want to start that RAM-AIR discussion again tho )

As for potential other mods I am really looking forward to installing the poly bushings from cattman, and the blehmco LTB-2. I will have a chance to try those out at Thunderhill on May 14-15.

Yea they do, but Im not 100% sure of them. I think its like you can't mount to the headrest/any connection between headrests. I have a suction-cup mount that works well and is legal. One of these days I gotta stick it on top of my sunroof (haha)
