Now I understand why you want bigger, faster auto-x courses. That course is about the same size as the Test and Tune course up near Allentown I mentioned in another thread. Do you run bigger courses with that group? IMO the maxima needs a little more room to stretch it's legs without getting embarassingly killed by slow civics and miatas.

If you come up to Maryland in October for one of the SCCA events you probably would enjoy it alot.

AND if you ever end up near Giants Stadium when NASA is running, that is definitlely worth at least a look.

heh...that's probably the biggest lot we use with CDC...they're all about that size. the maxima isn't terrible for that, since almost every car has to run it in 2nd (except for the S2000's) or hit their rev limiters, and the max has alot more torque down low than the 4-bangers do. CDC runs a pretty light schedule for the rest of the summer/fall, so i might hit an SCCA event or NASA event if I get a chance...

Irish,
Does that outside camera angle give you any usable information?

I will comment on this though, that cone at the end, no SCCA or NASA does that. I have a feeling that a cone in that position would end up being shredded cheese in the auto-x's I've been to. The goal is just to trip the lights, if you come in spinning out or backwards it doesn't matter, and you probably get style points, but recently people were scolded for chewing up the cones AFTER the lights.
Actually, a lot of cones end up being shredded cheese anyway.

josh: how do you not get behind in your steering crossing your hands over like that, you might want to try shuffle style, it is so much easier to make quick changes in steering like in slaloms and when you get snap oversteer. it does take a little getting used to tho

I usually do shuffle....I will be the first to admit that my steering was sloppy....the course wasn't very tight at all, so basically I just got lazy in the afternoon when I had passengers riding along (and the inside video)......I was waiting for somebody to comment on it ...it was the first thing I noticed when I watched the videos (I almost didn't post them because I knew people would get on me about it!)

I think it depends, sometimes instructors (especially formula ford guys) are too used to locking their thumbs on wheel, so that's how they drive, and that's how they try to tell you to drive.
