modifications

This is sort of an opinion i suppose I know autocross uses different classes, i wanted to race a completley stock car but i got my hands on a maxima with intake, exhaust, front and rear strut bars, sts, after market filter, big brake kit and short throw shifter. I just threw some 225 wide kumhos on it so those are no longer "stock".

What should I do if I would like to still autocross in a competitive class ? I've never gone but I do know that street modified would just be me getting demolished. Also what modifications can I get that I haven't gotten yet? I was also hoping to get s-techs.

Depends on whether your local region has a Novice class or not.
Are you sure you would be in SM and not STX or even STU?
You are probably going to get demolished no matter what class you're in the 1st few times, but that depends on the quality of the drivers in that class, you never know, you may do very well.

it's the BBK and 225 tires that will get you bumped up to STX class....not SM.

I am not sure if we have a novice class or not, I know I will get my butt whupped but I am just trying to find the best class to learn with the car and watch my improvements as compared to other cars so to speak.

I didn't know they would bump me up that high, I knew with the short throw and intake I would go up to SM.

I may just save up some money, sell the car and get something else so much hassle taking parts off of it since I have none of the stock replacements for anything.

the bottom line is that even in stock categories you won't be competitive (remember, the maxima is Gstock, same as the Mini)....run in whatever class you are required to, and have fun. If you want to dominate autocross events, you'll have to go get a heavily-modded 1991 Civic hatchback

Seriously, if you haven't done auto-x cross before, go to a couple of events, you will understand the rest of our responses.
The level of seriousness that some people take auto-x too may be well past yours, so just go out, show up and have some fun.
If you want to become competitive, it actually may have to do with the region you run in, I still hear about guys doing well in maxes. However, in my region it's next to impossible, we have some national contenders in it, and more potential contenders.

well he can register as a Novice driver but his car would still have to be indexed...in his case it would be STX..i woudl also suggest a Rear Sway Bar...u said u have the strut bar...the sway bar is a better mod....if u stay with any Spring/Strut combo u stay in STX i would go Eibachs and AGX or Illuminas..but thats one mans opinion
