Question on suspension

Currently I have KYB GR2 struts and H&R springs. Anyway I'm thinking that my struts are starting to go.

Anyhow my question is about the comparison between adjustable struts and coilovers.

Do coilovers really out perform Adjustables like the KYB AGX or the Tokico Illuminas? Can you give me any other information that would help me out in this regard. Thanks

A dumb question for you.....are you asking this in the context of autocross/road racing, or just for normal street driving?

Well mostly just normal street driving, but I want the highest performance possible. I was looking up information on the .org about those that have coilovers and I have found that many have had them blow out. Is this a normal occurrence. Any other info you can provide in my search for understanding coilovers and strut and spring combo's would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, in general a true coilover will out perform and spring/strut combo. The biggest +s for coilovers, 1- springs and struts are matched for each other (mixing and matching springs and struts, may work ok depends on your choices) 2- some coilovers let you adjust ride height with out giving up all the suspension travel (important for that low look on A32s) As for the -s coilovers will cost more, and they may need to be serviced more than a standard strut ( a good idea to find out about overhaul cost and turnaround time) Not that adjustable struts don't wear out or get blown out. I think if the coilovers are designed for street and track and set at a reasonable level, you should get many miles and years of service before an overhaul is needed.

Good coilovers will outperform lowering springs/shocks by a large margin. Even the mediocre ones like D2's and KSports have good street handling because of the stiffer springs. Quality dampers on the coilovers make the biggest difference though.
