AutoX class competitors...

https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/wcwagner/w...06-Results.pdf

That's the last local autoX, and everyone in GS is either an A4, or a Taurus.

Since yes, my Maxima is still 100% stock... and obviously, driver skill is almost everything in autoX.... is the CAR ITSELF considered to be competitive in that class against A4's?

One thing I found out tonight... my car, maybe because it's an SE-L, has VLSD. I found out the fun way, though...

32 drivers????? are you serious... most of those GS drivers are novices so they shouldnt be too competitive but the maxima is not competitive in GS against a mini cooper s, as you can see with the regular minis in HS doing 55-57 second times and the fastest GS car is running around 61. you may be competitive against the audis and that sentra if you have rcomps... so just pray no minis show up in GS

AFAIK, the mini's that are there, and that regularly show up to autoX, are just plain mini's... not "S" models.

Yes, the Maxima's should be able to hold their own against the A4's. The A4's w/all wheel drive are quite heavy and it definitely makes a difference going into the turns. The Maxima's aren't nearly as heavy and that does make a difference, even tho the Max is only FWD. Once again, it all boils down to skill. Things like AWD will only help you out once you've become consistent around the course.

BTW, i noticed that you're a U of I student. I just graduated in the spring w/ a degree in mechanical engineering and now I'm at law school on the east coast. Props to a fellow Illini.

I managed to go to the Rantoul autocross once during my 4 years at U of I. It was a blast and I definitely wished I had more time to go to more events.

Heh... no, I'm not a UofI student. I live in Bloomington, where Illinois State University, and Illinois Wesleyan University are.

I actually graduated with Honors from The Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park, NY. (Hence the "chefasaurus" moniker.)

The A4's were in the novice class this time around, so I didn't even worry about them. It was the OTHER 99 Maxima SE-L 5spd that was on V710's that managed to be my competitor. There was a 06 Civic SI on V710's that WAS with us, but got bumped when trophy time came around, because they left before they worked the course.

See my other thread *the Central IL region SCCA autoX 09.03.06" for details about the day.
