Which Brake upgrade makes more sense?
For a street driver/weekend auto-rx'er, which of these brake set-ups would make more sense, and why?
Set 1:
Caliper relocation kit using 5.5 gen OEM caliper w/ 12.75x0.94" rotors (15.5 lbs.)
Set 2:
SSBC 2-Piston Caliper w/ 12x1" rotors (no idea on weight)
Both set-up's will be on Hawk HPS.
I'm thinking it's a wash, but what do you all think?
Thanks.

for autocross i wouldnt upgrade the brakes other than hawk hps pads and stainless steel lines because the stock sized brakes will have less weight, moment of intertia and will come to temperature faster. also you will be able to fit smaller diameter wheels and shorter tires which once again have a lower moment of inertia and better gearing. plus i think brake caliper and rotor upgrades bump you into ridiculus classes like street modified or e prepared

actually, you could upgrade to the full 6th gen calipers and rotors. Since it's a direct bolt-up with no brackets needed, it is at very least DSP legal under the update-backdate provisions....
If you're looking for a good street braking ability, the 6th gen setup is excellent. If it's just for autocross, don't worry about it. Brakes are not a huge upgrade for autocross, IMO.

Thanks for the responses, guys.
I'm looking into a good mix of effectiveness in both daily driving and the occassional auto-x stints. "Set 1" above wouldn't be any heavier than the OEM 2k2 set-up so i'm not worried much about weight and i'm pretty much stuck with 17's these days anyhow.
The 2k4+ caliper/rotor combo has always sounded good, but the caliper just doesn't seem to fit in my current set-up - from the limited info i gathered, the top hat (?) will hit either the wheel weights or the inside spoke of my rims.
Right now, i'm on 245/45/17 Proxes 4, there's plenty of grip for what its worth - it's just the feel of my current brake set-up that's got me thinking of an upgrade. The existing set-up brakes just fine, even under constant braking, but it doesn't bode well for daily driving.
Hmm, then again, do you guys think having Hawk HPS up front and Axxis MM's in the back have anything to do with it? It's a bit hard to explain, but whenever i do brake it feels the back just isn't biting as hard.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
