this forum should kick ***.

yay!

so. anyone have suggestions on strut settings for Auto-X?
when i was going
i had med/hard fronts
and hard rear. that made me skip alot

so my suggestion is
med/hard front
med rear

go with a high front tire psi...45
rear psi at 35

To make your car rotate well and not just understeer, stiffen your rear as well as raise the pressure in the rear. In the front, you want to lower the tire pressure just to the point that the tire starts to roll over onto the sidewall instead of slide. Thats why you see AutoX guys using chalk on their tires, so they can tell exactly at what pressure their front tires start to roll over rather than lose grip and slide.

Excellent information, I've never seen it on an auto x car but definitely on a drag car.
Does anyone know some good auto x sites other than scca.org? We have a local chapter at one of our colleges but the info on the site is not that great.

I run 40 frt/ 40 bk, koni's set to med hard (one turn from the stiffest setting )
all that is great but tire type will also determine how you set up

Re: what the heck?

chesbo, one the thing w/ tire pressure is that it's alway different, one thing you can do is use chock, I don't bother, I wash the car before the day of the auto-x so the tires have nothing on them, and then I see how far the rubber is going, and then correct the pressure by psi, it's really just fine tunning it on the spot

Without chalk or shoepolish how do you tell which run the wear came from?

just by looking at the patern of wear everyrun you can figure out if you're running too much or too little, if you run too much you can always wear a glove and just put "swipe the marks off", they will obviously be there, but deformed from your swiping, so next time you will see where the where is, but then again, using chalk is okay too, I always forget, and don't use shoepolish unless you want it to be perminent, it doesn't come off
