Dealing with Initial D Auto Salon (negative) / Paradox Systems (positive)

Bought Cefiro lights for maxmojo (paradox systems) last week. Lights came in quickly, cheaply, as promised. Nothing but praise for paradox with this deal.

Had seen Initial D advertised by Ange (nothing but good deals with her thru Redlinemax.com too) so decided to go to them to have the lights installed. Yes, could have done it myself, but they're a body shop, I though they might be able to get the gap fixed better than I could have myself.

I was quoted a price of 60 - 90 dollars out the door on the phone. Was quoted a price of around 60 dollars by the guy who was putting them in before he started. Have seen a post in the n.e. installers list listing this install as 50 - 100 dollars. Now granted, none of these are absolute prices. However, the bill came out, with a labor charge of 150 dollars.

I find this absolutely insane, and anyone going there in the future I would recommend getting a written quote, not thinking that you've dealt with people from that shop before and trusting them. Way overprices, especially when you consider the quality of the work. Which, I must say is lacking badly in this case.

I know cefiro lights are not an exact fit.. I know there will be a bit of a gap in the fender where the light sits. I was prepared for this. However, going to a body shop and paying to have these installed, I was expecting the gap to be minimal, and the edges to be taped or something to try and hide the gap. Not in the least. There is at least a 3/4" gap between my lights and my fender. No tape / molding / anything to try and make it look good. The grill was mounted back on, I assume with 3M tape or something like it. However, the grill was not mounted on straight, so i'll be taking that off and finding a new way to get it on there. Ughhh.. honestly, if this was an install me and a buddy did, drunk in his driveway, i would deal with fixing it myself. After being overcharged at least 50 dollars more than the quoted price, and having this done at a professional shop, I would expect better than a half-assed job.

Cliffs notes:.. love Paradox systems, have never had a problem with redlinemax.com, however, redlinemax's associated shop Initial D auto salon can kiss my a**. Shoddy, overpriced work. Blah
