Carmax service sucks!!!!

Sorry, I'm ranting....

Unfortunately, I bought my 5th gen I30 from Carmax. Price was right, miles on car were good, sales process was smooth. Then a week later when I needed to visit their service departmant.... BAM...

My car seems to suffer from the warped rotor symptoms. Since June they have put 3 sets of brand new rotors on my car (NAPA not factory). Today (less than a week from the last set installed), I hear the pads scraping the rotor while driving, plus at speeds 45 mph and higher I can feel the front end vibrate.

This time, I've asked Carmax to let me take it to the infiniti dealer (and they cover the bill) They said OK to have it diagnosed at infiniti then, I have to call carmax to authorize the work.

Question. Do the dealers seem to know how to handle this problem? Obviously Carmax does not.

I little history... I bought the car knowing the rotors were warped, with Carmax's promise to fix it, they put new rotors on and under a week they were warped. They then put higher quality rotors on, under a week they are warped. They also don;t seem to think my front end vibration is the rotors, they blame tire balance.. could be true, but they just balanced them and the rotors are obviously warped.

Will factory rotors be better?

Sorry I'm rambling... Just very disappointed with Carmax. I do not recommend them for your car purchase.

Devil's advocate here: I'm not understanding why you conclude Carmax is a bad dealership. They seem to be complying with your requests and doing their best to honor their part of the agreement (3 new sets of brakepads, allowing you to go to dealership etc.) Did they tell you you are out of luck on this and that they are not willing to do anything else? A friend of mine in VA bought their car from Carmax and they had nothing but good things to say about them. I personally don't like them because they are overpriced. Anyway, my point is it sounds like the issue is with the car itself due to Nissan's mistake, not Carmax's mistake.

I agree that it is probably a Nissan issue rather than a Carmax issue, yet I have paid Carmax money for an extended warranty, and cannot rely on them repairing my car, they are unable to fix my car.
I am battleing them to fix my car. The fact that a one to two day job takes a week and a half and is still not fixed is a bad thing. Yes they consistently replace the parts, but they consistently replace them with equally bad parts.
It's my letter writing and communication with the manager/ corporate CEO that has giving me the ability to take my car to the dealer on Carmax's tab.
