Car saleman with least honesty.

Dont know if this is a repost, but CNN reports Car salesman have the least honesty.... That explains why the Nissan dealer told me the 2004 maximas have 280hp.

You can't blame the salesman, they are there to write the order. Though they are supposed to know their product they usually don't. RESEARCH it! I did. I knew everything about the 05' Max. That is why I bought it!

Thats true, but they are there for other reasons too, and that is to educate the buyer. When I corrected his mistakes, he was like "yeah, your are right" I think its just a strategy, like they say, HP sells cars, and he was trying to make it sound like it had more HP than it did. Also, the best part was how he said hes been selling maximas for 15 years.

yes they do. I sold cars for about 6 months, and it is not an honest gig. We lied more about pricing than anything else to rope people in. It is def. a vicious business.

I hate car sales men, Stupid basterds, I tried a bunch of time asking a complicated quest. and they always change the subject, I think if your going to be selling the product, dont brag about the things you can see, Its called common sense, You can see if it has powerwindows, or locks, or leather, or a sunroof, or a premium sound system, they should teach there salesmen about complicated stuff

I hate those F-ers!

I was at a Mitsu dealership Saturday around 8pm-ish (I only go to dealerships after 8pm so that I can look freely without someone crawling up my ***) looking at Evos (JUST looking). One of those ****** must have been working late, and completely snuck up on me . At the time I had my hand in my crotch because it was cold outside. He introduced himself and wanted to shake my hand. So I pulled my hand straight from my crotch to shake his hand

I know that they have to make a living too and blah blah blah... life is tough.
But those mf-ers are the most immoral ****** I can think of. And they are completely fake too, I cant stand that.

You'll prolly like this...

http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying...2/article.html

Last time I remember helping someone buy a brand new base-line f-150 (chrome rims, manual tranny...everything stock), we had settled on a $12,100 price. At the last minute, the "sales manager (aka 'the tool')" made an oversight and added an extra $1000. Ooops, too bad that mistake was made at the time of contract signing(yah ok)...woulda cost an extra grand. We corrected, looked over paperwork...and did it. I think my friend was paying $131 for that lease, I mean the entire cost was just ridiculiously low including buy-out payment (think it was 0 apr at the time). Much less than a $199! civic per month blah blah blah or somethin. I mean...this deal was cheap and low, but the f-150 was brand new at the time. Just amazing what they'll tack on after shaking hands.

Where did the AAMCO managers score on that poll?

I only ever once bought a car and felt good about the deal a year later. A 2k Grand Cherokee for my wife that we got last year for exactly book value AND the salesman got us a 4% rate on the 5yr loan! (used car rate)

The sales guy who sold me my max said that if I wanted a 5yr loan I had to accept a 14% interest rate (My mistake for letting it slip that I needed the car TODAY dammit!) He did the whole fast-calculation scam... That's where they calculate the pricing/financing for you but work through the numbers so quickly and in such a complex way that you can't keep up. Then the throw in the occasional 'Oh wait, I did that wrong, let me try some of that again' to make doubly-sure you're completely lost, then they put you on the spot with an embarrasing question like; "You're getting all of this, I assume, I mean it's pretty simple, huh?" They are gambling that that your pride won't allow you to admit that you are confused... Works better when you are with your wife/girlfriend etc that you don't want to look stupid in front of... In reality you haven't got a clue what he's doing with that calculator and he might as well be computing the average size of his ***** on any given tuesday as far as you know... So you just nod and confidently say; "Yeah, that sounds good." Whoops, he 'accidentally' added an extra thousand bucks in the middle there and you're gonna pay it, sucker. Unless your wife demands he do the math more slowly and saves your macho *** by realising the 'mistake'... And even then it was an "honest" mistake, no hard feeling, huh? (And he'll just get it back by 'accidentally' adding a quarter-point to your financing rate... )

Anyways - back to my car... He promised that with my credit I could do no better that 14% - this was in 2000. (No derogatories, only had a car and home loan, low CC balances and a 6-figure income. My credit was not the problem - his comission on the hi-rate loan probably was.)

Knowing he was full-o-**** I refinanced a month later with PeopleFirst and got 6%.

you guys are so mean!

Not be rude or anything.... but try remembering statistics on your whole line of cars....
I’m a salesman at a dealership... actually a sales manager now. But keep in mind guy we do have like 15 brand new cars just the cars and then the packages vary from one to the other... Nissan is actually one of the easy lines to know. But still not all sales people know everything and can’t remember everything about the cars.

If you guys have some questions shoot umm over at me on pm. im pretty sure I should be able to get an answer for your "complicated" questions.

oh yeah if you want to order parts from a dealership hit me up to, I can get ya dealer cost plus whatever shipping is gonna be.

30K? try 100K and thats just for a good year...AT HUYNDAI! you know how much a bens saleman makes maybe 250 or 300. this is no small money business, even if your a salesman! you are right, its no good to rip people off, there are some guys that are just palin jack-offs but there are many just trying to make a living, and belive me the job and hours are not easy. i worked 70 hours some weeks, ye 70 hrs a week! you are not robbing customers, they pay willingly. bottom line is smart customers shop around and dont get riped off, and if you dont screw them someone esle, thats a bigger a$$ will do it for you.

i have been a car salesman for over 5 years, and i can honeslty say i am not a liar and i have not blatently lied to customer to get the sale. I pride myself on my honest reputation, in fact of my monthly sales volume 70 - 80 % are repeat or referral customers. Do i make $150,000 a year, NO, but i make a very good living, and i can sleep at night. I also no that my chosen proffesion is known as a shady one, and it makes my job harder. I waste more time convincing people that their not getting screwed, than i am actually selling the car. I also work at a medium sized dealer set in the suburbs. The traditional "screw you in the butt" sales person works at what we call a highway store, you know the big dealer that gives you a free tv or a vacation or somthing when you buy a car, their the ones you should cover your hinnie for. There will always be a bit of (for lack of a better word) "mystery" involved with the auto purchasing industry, but i assure you all just because the sales man is talking to his/hers sales manger in a closed office, doesnt mean your getting screwed, usually their trying to figure out if the low-ball offer the customer just made is even possible.
I could type a twenty page rant about how the industry is not as crooked as you think, but who has time for that, also sorry my spelling sucks!

i just read the post about the money hyundai sales or bens sales make, and those #'s are way off for my region of the country. I m sure there are a handful of people making that but not the average, not by a long shot. I worked at bens in norht jersey for two years, and i made only $68,000 my first year and approx 15 % more my second. The top guy who was so busy he didnt know which way to turn has never cleared $140,000. Competition has become to stiff and gross is suffering for that.It has become hard to make big money per car. I can remeber just three years ago i could gross $10,000 on a six month old caddy(paying me $2500(25%) ) now 5 or 6 grand is HUGE. I dont think of the last 50 new cars i sold i made more than $300 per car and my dealers minimum is $100 per car

the reason, you see the adds in papers for hyundia salesman is that there is a huge turnaround rate of salesman at most dealerships, people are always quitting or getting fired. there are usually a few mainstays and a bunch of new guys you see every month. it doesnt matter the kind of car, what matters is how they buy it. in lots of cases when your are buying a cheap car, you have no money and bad credit and have to finance, so because you have little money, you get ripped off even more, hence the big money in cheap cars! but im sure you already know all this, so its ok that you are talking out of your A$$ and have no clue what your talking about.

OK, for one thing.... You can't spell. Second, you don't make 100k selling Hyundais. A good car salesman making 250-300k, get real. MAYBE a GM of a fleet of Benz dealers. You need to learn how to spell and then maybe you can establish a level of credibility on this board......

You are all . There is more misinformation in this thread.

It is the buyer's responsibility to educate himself before the purchase. With all of the information on the internet, there is no need for anyone to get screwed unless they have made an emotional buying decision.

Chances are , you got screwed becuase you were too impulsive and have no *****.
