my speedometer has not worked for some time so i took it into serramonte nissan to diagnose the problem. when they found out what was wrong (or at least what they thought was wrong) they called me and told me that i would need a new speedo head or whole new guage cluster, and they quoted me at $400 parts and labor. i told them i could geta guage cluster for $40 so i got ym car and left, BUT...before i left i talked to the service manager whos team worked on my car to clarify some things. when i said i could get the whole cluster for $40 his exact words were;


"well if you want to cut corners and do it yourself then go ahead"

WHAT THE **** IS THAT SUPPOSE TO MEAN?!?

he then told me that because i have aftermarket guages (reverse indiglo) that any work that they would do would not be guaranteede because i have aftermarket guages...what the hell do some thin little guages faces that slode over the old ones have to do with the speedo not working...and furthermore, im not on a warantee, i bring my car in to get fixed and i expect it to be fixed no matter what is done to my car.

finally he says to me;

"if you go to fix the problem yourself and it doesnt work, dont come whinning back to me, when we diagnose something we only guarantee its right if we do the work"

at this point i was furious...my rage had kicked in and i was ready to break every bone in this fat piece of ***** body.

anyways, so i levae, go to my friends house (Turbo95Max) and get his old guage cluster and pop it in...well guess what, the speedo still doesnt work. i paid nissan $130 to find the problem and they did NOTHING. so i called them up and asked to bring it in again and mentioned that i swapped in a working guages cluster and it didnt work and he jsut casually said to me;

"oh i guess the problem must be something else"

must be something else? WHAT THE **** AMD I PAYING YOU FOR!?!

i am seriously contemplating setting this place on fire, SF may be without a nissan dealer, but i think thats a good thing.

 

well i ended up going back to the dealer to tell them that their diagnostic was wrong and that it was something else...a couple hours later they got back to me saying that they still want to replace the speedo head and they would charge me $400 for the job. i asked that for $400 they would guarantee the problem would be fixed (since they seamed so confident the speedo head was the problem) and they flat out replied "no."

what bullsh!t, im never going back to a dealer ever again.
