So i brought my car in for a few problems 1. Radio only playing out of right side at cetain times 2. discolerd roof trim 3. malfunctioning sunroof....now heres my beef. on my intemized report of what was done they first stated they could not duplicate the radio problem but a few lines down they said they wouldnt look at it because i have an aftermarket amp and subs 2. the service advisor told me that the trim on the roof was stainless steel and the trims on the rear window is plastic chrome thus causing diff colers..can anyone please verify this
silvermaxSI - There will be other posters here who will know the exact story on the trim. All I can say is that my '04 SL was built the last week of May 2004, I purchased it a year ago this Saturday, and I cannot tell one iota's difference between the roof strips and the rear window strips.
I just went out and checked them carefully (after reading your post), and my roof and window strips are both in perfect condition and exactly alike in appearance. I cannot tell if they are made of the same substance or not, but they sure look like they may be.
Two possibilities: I'm sure you removed the pernicious clear protectice plastic from both the roof and window strips? Or maybe you are parking outdoors, and industrial pollution has caused the problem.
The fact the roof strips don't match the window strips means one of two things:
1. Either one or the other was not manufactured correctly.
or 2. The materials are indeed different, and react differently to the elements.
Either way, I would be hoping for some redress from my dealer. The dealer should be able to charge this to Nissan.

There is flaw on the roof trim period. My dealer had no problems at all he immediately ordered me a new one. However, it has been on backorder for over a month now so goodluck getting one if you can get your dealer to go for it.
go out to the new car lot and find a car just loke yours and take a look at the panels. if theyre the same, take the car back, have them put that line on the ticket again. if they try to give you any ****, point out the other vehicle, and if need be SHOW them. if its obvious theres a defect, then they need to take care of it.
about the radio. if the tech cant duplicate the problem he cant fix it... plain and simple. you need to figure out when it happens, or figure out what you can do to duplicate the symptom. then take it back it, tell them how to duplicate it. if they still cant duplicate it, duplicate it FOR them. once a svc advisor, manager or technician hears it, they HAVE to fix it. theyre on the hook.
furthermore, most dealers have an outside audio guy that goes around to different dealers on different days and fixes only the audio problems. they usually know the commo causes and failures and will sometimes fix the problem without bothering to duplicate it.
