Clutch cost at dearlership for a 96?
I've got an estimate of 945-1145. I know it's expensive to do a clutch in this car (I've never had one done but I've been told) but does this seem way out of whack? If not then.....oh well. I'd think it's in the ballpark since it is a dealer and all. Any feed back? I'm in the "Boston" area.
What he said, but it will be more than $500 for parts and labor for a quality clutch.
A clutch job on a '96 should take approx 4 hours, and include replacing of the rear main and output shaft seals while they have it all apart. If not, they will leak soon anyway and you pay more to remove the same parts again.
clutch $200-400, depending on brand.
rear main seal, $60 ($$$ for a seal, but that's how it goes)
tranny fluid, $35
transmission output shaft/axle seals, $35/set
labor, 4hrs at $65/hr = $260
total, $590-730, depending on clutch choice.
that's ballpark pricing for a decent shop.
