Redline Signature Grill

Gents,

What the latest on the Redline Signature Grill? My wife is going to buy me a grill for father's day and I wanted to know what your experience has been with these grills, the looks sharp but have there been any issues with them? I read the big thread and the possible issues have been:

1. Back ordered?
2. Fitment
3. Finish shine.
4. Contacting Redline.
5. And what is the cost and where should I try to buy one?

Mine was backordered for a REALLY long time, But I ordered when it was released to get the GB. They had problems with getting materials and it took some time for them to catch up with the orders.

I finally got it a week and a half ago, but now I'm waiting to get it back from the paint shop. The holes for the clips weren't drilled, but it took the body shop 5min to drill those.

I thought there were some fitment issues from this page:
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ignature+grill

Quoting Kublkmax
"I did not want to post pics but I have not heard from Redline. The bottom of the trim piece is very uneven as you can see the the mesh is missing in the corner. The fiberglass is cracked part of the powdercoat on the mesh is scratched off. I just expected more for 210 bucks. Like I said before I love the style of the grill I just want mine to be as good of quality as the other guys. I don't feel I should have to prep this thing so it is ready to go on the car. It should be ready to paint. I am hoping to work something out with Redline if they every get back to me. Cuz my baby wants to have this grill on her but it needs to be better than this one. Ok I am done ranting. I still would recommend this grill to others I just think I got a lemon. It happens no big deal."

I'm not knocking Redline, just like anything I buy I try to know what I'm stepping into. Any and all opinions are welcome especially from you guys that have the grill.

Corey is a stand-up guy. If there is any type of problem it will be taken car of.

So am I hearing, there are no fitment issues. It arrives, I install, no cutting or customizing. (similar to a Trenz grill).

I can call Redline and see if they are back ordered.

Correct. The only drilling that may have to be done is on the top plate that you push the plastic slaps through to hold it in place. You will see the indentations as to where they are suppose to be so now guess work. It took us 10 minutes to install.

See picture below: the black buttons along the top of the grill is what I am talking about...

There are no fitment issues, but remember that it's not painted. I have yet to find out what color it arrives in, but what "they" say is that it won't match any car and you'll have to get the frame painted.

But I could be wrong... somebody will correct me if so, I'm sure.

From what ive read, the frame is not painted at all.
I dont know why its hard to match the car color. I thought all black, red, blue, etc. color maxima's shared the same paint code.

I was the test fitter for the first prototype grill and all fitment issues were pretty much non existent, I still have the initial grill. There were finishing details that were fixed based on my feedback but they weren't even that big of a deal. I am still running it as a matter of fact, Corey plans to replace mine once he fills the demand for the ones that have been ordered. Not sure what production color came out as but mine was a very light grey (almost matched my silver, I ran it like that for a bit) Here's what it looked like before I painted it:

As far as ordering goes Apollos2, click my sig and it will take you the Redlinemax website!!

On a side note, my month is almost up the the RLM calendar, damn it went by fast, hope all of you who have it enjoyed my ride for the month, I'll be back again later in the year!!

Thanks for all the info and dialogue. I did call Redline yesterday and here's the scoop:

1. Fitment: should be no issues.
2. The grill trim needs to be painted. (anyone want to give us an idea what it costs to paint the trim?) My guess is that at some time in the future they may keep at least one grill of the popular colors, pre-painted, in stock. Since these grills are fairly new they probably haven't got to that point yet.

3. If ordered now, grill should arrive in 3weeks.
4. Mesh is diamond shape, not the square shape we see on JSmith's car.

Pretty much what you guys have already said. Now time to make a decision.
Thanks again

For what it's worth.... I ordered my grill 6 or 7 weeks ago. Upon placing my order I asked what the availability was and was told that they grill would ship in a week and half. As of today still no grill. Normally this would not bother me b/c I knew there was some availability issue's. However, since then I have been told twice that I would recieve mine the next week, which did not happen. Another time I was told that I had to send an email to check my order status.... sent three emails and did not get a response. Now, I've tried to call a couple of times this week and no one has answered.

I understand that materials shortages accure... I just wish that I could be told when my order will actually ship so that I know to look for it. If it's going to be a month, just send me an email and let me know. Hopefully the quality is as good as the guys that are sponsored says it is. So far, the C/S has not been the best.

tb2211,
I have similar situation like yours. I ordered my grille about 7 weeks ago and I called 3 times already and they said it was going to be the next week everytime. When I ordered, I was told it was about 2-3 weeks. I do know there are delays sometimes in production and they want to make everything perfect, but I am starting to feel tired of waiting. No updates on what's going on. Glad to hear that is not just me.

Just to answer some of you guys. Yes, the back order has actually been horrible. When we first decided to make the grille, the hardest part was actually sourcing the right mesh. Of which we only found 2 companies in the country that carried the mesh. Our supplier was actually out of the mesh recently when I went to purchase it for the current orders, they were out of stock of the mesh which was a huge suprise to us. However once we recieved the back ordered mesh, which I ordered enough for 50 pieces, I took it to our cutter. They are processing it now. Once they finish, which they told me should be tomorrow, We will next day it to Jose to process all of the back orders.

Again, sorry for the delay. We will now have more than enogh in stock from now on to cover the demand. We were overwhelmed with the initial demand and are doing our best to satisfy all of your orders and bring you new products which you will love!!!

Thanks for the heads up. Was not at all concerned on the time it took to get it right. Just wanted to make sure mine had not been sent and taken off the steps, etc. Can't wait to see the finished product.

It is pretty polished, just shined mine up the other day actually! But call Redlinemax and ask for Corey, he was talking about getting chrome mesh, not sure if it's an option yet or not...
