www.tirerack.com reviews are bogus?

just curious if anyones ever left a tire review on tirerack and seen it as a review that comes up when you search....

the reason i ask is because ive left two reviews of tires over the past month, and i still see NEITHER when i look for customer reviews....

and its not that i left really bad or scathing reviews, one of them was satisfactory, and the other was great (sumitomo hrt h4)

im thinking they curb the actual customer reviews to control various levels of inventory they have available....

I left a comment in the past regarding my old set of tires (Yokohoma's ES100) and my comment is visible.

I never left a review on tirerack for rims or wheels but I've had nothing but great service from them.

As good as TireRack prices are... when compared to my local tire dealer (CJ Tires), if you include shipping and mounting/balancing I do much better locally. Just my .02.

But does your local dealer have thousands of rims and tire choices?

Tirerack doesn't carry Toyo (or Falken)

Therefore, no care.

Born on Date

All,

Be sure to check the born on date before purchasing tires. I bought tires from tire rack on 4/15/2010 and they sent me two tires with a born date of 2006 and two with a born on date of 2008. On their website it does not mention the born on date and I did not realize it until two years later when the sidewall blew out. My mechanic was looking at the tire after the blowout and realized the born dates were from 2006 and 2008. They sold me tires that were 4 and 2 years old on 4/15/2010. When I approached them about the matter they said their system showed four 2008 tires being shipped to me on 4/15/2010 and there was nothing they could do to help me. Just make sure you know the born on date before purchasing from tire rack scamers.

I had the same issue with tirerack on the "born date".

As far as I know, there is no "expiration date" for tires, but most tire manufacturer's warranties cover their tires for four years from the date of purchase or five years from the week the tires were manufactured. So, your tires that were 4 and 2 years old at the time you bought them can be legally sold to you since they are still under manufacturer warranty.

One thing i've noticed working in a dealership parts department and selling lots of tires is this... As long as you buy a new or newer model tire, you won't have to worry about "new-old stock" tires that have been sitting in a warehouse collecting dust. If you buy a tire that has been around for a little while on the market, you are more than likely going to get an older tire. You will notice that Tire Rack and other online tire retailers will have a "sale" on a particular tire brand model/type/size to get rid of aging inventory to make room for new arrivals, as tire manufacturer's come out with new model tires every year.

Hope this info helps.
