Hey guys, I just picked up my nismo from Kevin for this forum (thanks bro). anyway in my research on the net about nismo ran accross a nissanclub.com post and found this website http://www.cosmoracing.com/productin...d=188&pid=1323
long story short, they have short ram and CAI's for real cheap. Just thought i would share if anyone is interested. I have never heard of them so if anyone knows about them. let us know. thanks

I've got a CosmoRacing CAI. It's pretty much exactly the same as the Injen one at a fraction of the price. But yeah, you definitely need to get a new filter as soon as you buy it.
Actually, I'm not completely sure, but I think the diameter on the CosmoRacing intake is just a bit bigger.

i thoght the prices were very good to be honest. i think its a good option if you are on a budget. It looks like a quality product. SLC since you own the full cai, how do you like their build quality? pro's, cons, sound?. I am now going to buy one as i have the Nismo but am very interested

It's real lightweight. I think the box it came in weighed maybe 5.5 pounds at most. But I'm sure that's a given with most cold air intakes.
I think it sounds pretty decent. It's not too loud, but it definitely gave my Max a nice, deep growl when I put my foot down. Not that I can hear it anymore thanks to my exhaust.
The only things I have against the intake are that the couplers look kind of cheap. They're just blue. Like. Blue. I mean, it's replaceable, but it looks tacky. That and the filter it comes with definitely needs to be upgraded as soon as possible. I used the filter it came with for about six months, and it didn't appear to be doing a very good job at all.
Also worth mentioning, the post that you're supposed to attach to the AT dipstick support is (or was on mine anyway) just a bit off. If you have an AT, you'll need to do a little futzing to get the post to line up behind the dipstick and then to be able to screw the bolt back in. I think the Injen has a similar problem, though.
It's not quite as shiny in the "polish" option, but if you're looking for performance and not a show car, that shouldn't really matter. I'm probably going to eventually paint mine black, anyway.

I can post up some pics of the set-up if you'd like. But I'm also curious, what's the Nismo intake like? I didn't know that the 5th gen had one.
Thanks SLC for the info, i know some membes would appreciate the info you gave. I have not heard too many badd things about the nismo, but all intaks have their quirks. I bought the nismo because it was 105 with shipping from org member Kevin. it has a few scratches but i dont care i am not going for a show quality engine, cant beet that price plus he shipped on thursday and got it saturday, even better, haha. IDK if they make nismo for the 5th gen, i have a 6.5. Couplers can be had at autozone cheap but i do understand what you are saying. None the less the cosmo looks like a great option. thanks

Yea I got A CAI from them two good stuff I need 2 change the filter yet, but I haven't bcuz I mite extend the piping of the CAI some more

Why? Unless you have a turbo, there's no point. You're just going to lose more low-end power.Originally Posted by biggz2332

Well its sitting as a SRI rite now, and it doesnt perform like it use when I first got it so I think its da filter itself I'm most likely gunna change the filter to like a K&N, but the reason I wanted 2 extend was just to do something else 2 da damm car lolOriginally Posted by SLCPunk267

Keep it set up as a short ram. You'll keep more of your low-end torque. If you went out tomorrow and slapped the rest of the intake on, I bet you'd notice a bit of a difference in the throttle. I did when I went vice-versa with mine. Originally Posted by biggz2332

If your car's not performing, it could be a lot more than the intake. And by the way, AEM's dry-flow filter is a great investment for SR/CAI. The oiled filters aren't worth the risk of blowing your MAF.

I know those guys pretty well, they're my neighbors. The underdrive % is 15%
so, if you have a killer stereo, i'd get a capacitor. Besides that, no difference with my crank pulley whatsoever. I got the crank pulley and the cold air intake system. Great products at great price!!
