Protecting and cleaning your precious wheels
I use Meguiars Quick spray wax detailer after using soap and water to clean my wheels. Most wheel cleaners I've used in the past tend to have harsh chemicals or acids in it. One guy on www.my350z.com has the same Antera Type 321 wheels as I do and recommended spray wax instead of "wheel cleaner" I haven't used anything else since. What does everyone else use?
The very best wheel/ rim product I have found is wheelwax. It works as both a cleaner and protectant. It applies like regular wax, but in the process cleans any extra junk that may be on the rim. Like wax it also makes subsequent cleaning easier, since brake dust and grime can't adhere to the rim. Highly recomended.
My wheels aren't so "precious" anymore.
I just use the strong wheel cleaners that scare people off but haven't caused any damage for me. When (if???) I ever get some nice 17" wheels though, the gentlest way to take care of them is to coat them in a quality polymer sealant like Klasse, Zaino, etc. and then clean them ONLY with car wash shampoo alone (wheel cleaners or degreasers will wipe it out). I don't know anything about Wheelwax personally...
Don't use wheel polish/mag polish/metal and aluminum polish etc. on factory wheels which are almost always PAINTED. You can't really substitute something like Meguiar's Quik Wax for a wheel cleaner - they have totally different jobs. But if you just want to wash the wheels with car shampoo then using Quik Wax (or a similar product) after every wash would probably help your cleanings.

Whenever someone mentions wheel or metal polish I just like to warn everyone about what I mentioned, because sometimes people still think that when they have alloy wheels they have "mags" or something and buy stuff for mag or aluminum wheels!
