Nope, if done correctly it shouldn't hurt the paint. Waxing the car every week is overkill IMO, but to each of their own I try to wax mine once a month.

Yeah thats really overkill, just wash the car and add some detailer spray afterwards to bring out the shine.

Remember that everytime you touch the paint, and especially when you rub in something like a wax, you're introducing the possibility of creating scratches/swirls. As careful as we may be, human error or accidents do occur, so it's up to you to strike a balance between reducing contact and obsessive waxing.

Hey, if you want to wax your car every week, more power to you. Honestly, it is overkill, but you're not going to hurt the paint. I wax mine every 3-4 weeks.

Bluntly, it's not necessary to wax your car every week. Most carnuba waxes have a durability of nearly a month. Polymers have a durability of six months.

oh I thought you mean those car wax that comes in a paste. Well if it's just the spray on version, I don't see why you can't do that after every wash.

Most pros recommend at LEAST 2 waxes a year.

I think 3-4 should be suffiencient depending on the weather.

P.S. Besides you need some time to enjoy the car too

Most of you are on the overkill plan. If you get a good wax job on there, and when it has water on it, it beads up, you don't need to keep waxing it. It is just a waste of time and money and energy. You should not have to do more than about every 4months or so like Proph said. 3-4 times a year, is the outer limits, if done right.

so what do you use after washing your car? Wash your car and that's it or use quick detailer or something?

Well that depends on what wax you use like PrinzII said. I know my wax goes away after a month or so.

Yeah what can you do after washing when you're between waxes? I mean paint wise. I don't feel a sense of completion if all i've done is spent 15 minutes washing it and that's it.

I'm guessing that if you're only spending 15 minutes then you're not drying the car either? If not, that is one big thing that helps keep it looking good, especially if you go and drive it right afterwards.

In between waxings you can use spray waxes, like Eagle One Wax As You Dry (don't use your special drying towel with this though...), or Meguiar's Quik Wax or even the Turtle Wax Express Wax. Make sure you use these on clean paint though. You can also use detailing spray on it (which is more common I think), which also helps the wax coat. Take your pick of many QD products.

It's fine to wax your car every week. It 's not going to hurt anything as long as you follow the correct procedure.

It's good that you like to take care of your car like that. Most people are too lazy to wax at all.

Too much waxing doesn't exsist. Most waxes evaporate pretty quickly.

Now, polish, is a different story. Never polish unless it is needed. Never use a machine to apply anything to the surface of your car unless needed. Those are two great ways to wear off your clear coat.

In the winter when the max was sitting in the garage most of the time, it got waxed about once a month. When it is actually driven, about every 2 weeks. My eclipse gets waxed about every 2 months. My f150... well I don't thinl I've waxed it for 6 months, and I don't think I've washed it more then once since then.

For the max, it gets washed once or twice a week each time I put on Meguire's quick wax... all that stuff is good of is finish upkeep. I would never rely on that for a real wax job.

Now, I'll tell you that is overkill for most people. I grew up in a family that owned a professional detail shop, and sold supplies to hundreds of detail shops and dealerships across the interior North West. So, for me, it's not a big deal, but then again, I also have about 5000 dollars worth of detail supplies in my garage that I didn't have to pay for. If I had to pay for it all, then it may be a different story.

i waxed mine about a month ago, and im waiting for some decent weather before i wax it again, aka, no more snow for the rest of the year and no more rain for at least a week. however, im going on vacation this week for a week so i want to put something on it to keep it healthy because my car isn't in a garage.
