Waxing Help!!

I have a red 2k3 SE in Red (Burgandy) that has attained a few minor scratches. I recently tried to get them out using Turtle Wax Heavy Duty Rubbing Compound and then Meguire's Wax. I am usually very good with the results from my wax jobs but was very disappointed with these results. I can see the original places that I applied the rubbing compound as it left almost a residue-y type mark under the wax.

Did I not let the compound dry enough before removing and applying the wax? Any suggestions/comments are appreciated.

Thx....

Are these fairly light scratches?

Hard to tell without seeing it, but it is very possible that the (aggressive) rubbing compound might have scratched your clear coat where you applied it. Long story, but I made that same mistake several years ago and had to have my entire hood repainted...it looked as though I had rubbed it down with steel wool ! You have to be extremely careful with the products you use on a clear-coat finish, and I don't believe HD rubbing compound is a safe choice. Recommend you try a very fine polish (something like Griot's Garage Fine Hand Polish) to see if the marks left by the Rubbing compound will polish-out. Good luck.
