Touch-up paint and paint chips

Touch-up paint and paint chips
I drive on the freeway everyday and I've been getting little paint chips on my front bumper and other places. I'm thinking about using touch-up paint to patch those chips. Is that a good idea? Anyone have any tips on using touch-up paint without leaving an ugly blob of paint on the body?
Will a full detail service get rid of paint chips? If so I might do that instead.

its alrite to use it on the edges, but if ur using it on the body on a plain surface then it comes out crappy! I've done this and i wish i didnt... so... try it on a piece of metal and see how it is....

Depends on how you want to go about painting it.... if you have the touchup paint pen with the clearcoat on the other end then id say put a two - three coats of paint on the spots, then apply a coat of clearcoat... if you have the little bottle of paint, apply a coat of that and leave a little dab extra on the surface... then get yourself a bottle of langka and buff it right out.... i havent used it but my friends have... works like a charm....

go to langka.com and order their product that eliminates that touch up paint "blob". It works really well and most of the time you cant even notice there was a chip before. All you have to do is purchase that and a bottle of factory touch up paint and you'll be chip-free. Also, i suggest getting a clear bra from invinca-shield.com. They are hardly noticable and protect your front end really well.

You can also mix your touch up paint with laquer thinner so it is real thin, and put on two to five coats or so depending upon how big the chip is. Once you have put on the coats, and before the last one is totally dry, take a cloth dipped in the thinner (also called a reducer) and wipe it over the top of the chip so that it sits flush. It's not like taking it to a body shop of course...but it works pretty nice.
