I've spraypainted my rear turn signals red, but I don't know if you're looking for info specific to the side markers only?

I can't remember ever seeing sidemarkers on a Maxima that weren't stock colors or clear.

I experimented with mine i spray painted them black and also white. They didnt shine very well through the paint so i took off the paint with some turpentine. if you do paint them only do one very light coat.

i did mine all black to match the car. i had taken the bulbs out a long time and it does not seem like a priority to law enforcement.

i used my clear corners and cleaned them up. i used a generic black spray paint (enamel) from walmart. since i am not running bulbs, i didnt care how many coats i used or dark it go. i think i used 4-5 and then hit it with clearcoat.

Yeah, I think VHT Nightshades or Testors Model Masters black transparent/tint paint (something like that) are the only paints you'd want to use on light lenses. The Testors is probably easier to find and cheaper than Nightshades. If you paint with plain old black paint, of course it's going to dim the lights way too much.
