polish to bring out paint

My black 97 maxima doesn't look as super black as I would like. What is a good polish I should use. I've already tried poorboys and klasse AIO and it didn't do as good as a job as I had hoped.

I am using Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection before applying P21S. I'm very happy with the results. Nice depth and gloss.

You may want to look into Zaino Z-2 or Menzerna. I'm not sure how good they'll work with dark coloured paint though..

The key is in the compound and the tools you are using. I for one use a PC 7424 and 3M Perfect-it II Rubbing compound on a cutting foam pad, then I follow up with some 3M Perfect-it II Machine Glaze on a polishing foam pad, then a wax of my choice.

Thats really how you can bring that paint back to a shine. Ive gotten some pretty nasty scratches out with that method. It has never failed me.

EDIT: I used this method on a local org members Black 5th Gen, and it made a big difference. Very glossy with that super black appearance.

Menzerna polishes work great on dark colored paint. It's my 'polish of choice' for my Super Black.

sk24iam -The Intensive Polish is what I would try for your paint, followed by the Final Polish. Then you could use the AIO topped with a good caranuba wax.

In addition, the paint's condition when starting has to be taken into account. The methods that Bluesbrekr and BlueC outlined have good results because the paint is in good shape on both vehicles.

If the swirling is moderate or there is a fair amount of oxidation and/or etching, you might want to consider polishes like the following:

- 3M Light Cut Rubbing Compound
- Menzerna Power Gloss
- Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish (Might be the best bet in your case)
- Poorboys SSR 2 (or 2.5) and SSR 1
- Sonus SFX1, 2, and 3

In addition, Bluesbrekr, BlueC, and I all have Porter Cable Orbital Polishers (BlueC & Bluesbrekr; 7424, Me; 7336) and good sets of pads to knock out any swirls. The only reason I don't mention rotary buffers is that it takes a LOT of skill and patience to run one without wrecking paint.

After you have polished out the imperfections to your liking, then apply Klasse AIO and top with SG.

Bonka: Autoglym gets a from me. I used it on aliti19's Maxima and then topped it with Souveran.
