Polishing like a pro
Polishing like a pro
Being that i have not polished my car in a long time, I'll be doing it today or tomorrow. Wash, polish, wax.
Now, I have that Turtle Wax Color Cure (the kind that comes with the 'chip stick' for my black car. I decided to give it a chance to see if it would hide some of my scratches and hood paint chips on my black car. But, I like to use 3M Hand Glaze because it makes the car mirrorlike as far as shine.
Question is,can i use both? If so,which one do i do first? I dont want to wipe away the Color Cure if i follow that up with the 3M. But if i do the 3M first,im thinking i'll cover up the shine when I put on the Color Cure. Whats the proper order for this,or should I just choose one and go?
Side note: The "Chip Stick" is basically a black crayon, molded and packaged in a lipstick tube. I havent used it yet,so maybe I'll take that back later if it works well.

I'd stay away from that color stuff. I've heard it doesn't last too long. Better to use a straight polish, then wax. The polish ought to remove some of the surface scratches and the wax will help hide some too.
Blues,
instil: Using the Color Cure is only going to fill in the scratches temporarily. If you are going to go more long term, you really need to invest in a good polish. Bluesbrekr uses the Menzerna Polishes on his car with good results. I have used Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish, Sonus SFX Polishes, Poorboys SSR Polishes, Menzerna Power Gloss, Menzerna Intensive and Final Polishes (Same ones Bluesbrekr uses).
The point I am making is that polishing your car is just like modding it. You have to find the correct combination of stuff to use in order to get the results you want. Case in point, This is what I would do if I had to tackle your car. I would use spot pads and my 3M Rubbing Compound to get rid of any deep scratches. Then, I would probably start polishing your car with DACP, Sonus SFX-1, Poorboys SSR 2.5 or Menzerna Intensive Polish to get rid of the swirls. Next, would be a secondary polish like Menzerna Final Polish or Sonus SFX-2. Then a 3rd Polish to get rid of the finer swirls (e.g. Sonus SFX-3). After the polishing steps, I would apply Klasse All In One with the Porter Cable and a finishing pad. Finally, I would top with Klasse Sealant Glaze and then top with a decent wax (P21S, for instance) to add depth.

thanks, thats a pretty detailed answer. (get it

To clarify more, the turtle wax stuff isnt wax,its polish. I thought it could cover the million (no exaggeration) white specks on my black hood. Then it would be protected with the glaze, then wax.Basically i washed my car, then the next day i thought there was pollen or dust on the hood, but it was actually numerous tiny chips in the paint.
I saw the turtle wax product and its kinda like a black,liquidy,shoe-polish like substance,so i thought it would just cover things up,but it sounds like its just a gimmick.Maybe the glaze/wax combo will blind people and distract them from my shoddy paint.
Anyone ever paint there own hood? Its that,or get it painted somewhere. The rest of the car isnt too bad.
