Carpet shampooer OK for use on seats?

Hey guys. Last night I purchased a 99 that is filthy on the inside. I rented a carpet shampooer and did the floors in the car and it came out great.

Would it be OK for me to use this shampooer on the seats? They are disgusting!!

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

What color are your seats? I have shampooed my car seats before and it worked fine. I would probably go with a good upholstery cleaner though in hindsight. Once you get them clean spray them down with a good fabric protector. Make sure you let everything dry out completeley. Then protect it.

It should not be a problem at all. In fact, many of the rental machines do come with an upholstery nozzle that you can use on the seats.

I wouldn't recommend it if they're leather...
