Recommend a good or perfect cutting pad for heavy swirls and scratches
I have a yellow cutting pad but I don't think I'm using the right compound for the job. I see people using Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner/Polish and getting great results with it. I'm going to buy the cleaner/polish from Meguiars but what brand pad should I use to apply it?
Use Meguiars pads. I use 3M products, but I have a friend of mine thats using the same pad as me, but using the Meguiars DACP. It should be a maroon colored pad, the cutting pad. I love these things, none of them have diminished in quality or have had any troubles with the jobs I have performed.

How does DACP or 3M rubbing compound compare with Sonus SFX-1 (restore)? I used this and SFX-2 with an Orange sonus DAS pad (and then the green one for sfx-2), and still some swirls are present.
Oh, Porter Cable 7336 btw

This chart will help you out:

DACP is good but to me it works just like SFX-1, they do a good job but not good enough for deep scratches or swirls. A Heavy-cut compound would probably work better. If you're up to it, try wet sanding the area and move your way down the chart as far as product application goes.

deezo: I currently have the Sonus SFX cutting pads (including the 4" spot pads) and the Sonus DAS pads. I would also look at the Lake Country Orange or Cutting Pads as well as the Meguiar's pads.

I used the Sonus SFX Yellow Cutting Pad and DACP on this '36 Ford with the PC running at 5 to reduce the swirls.
In your case, deezo, I would recommend Menzerna PowerGloss.

Ok. I'm going to try the Menzerna Powergloss with my current Yellow pad and see what results I get.
Thanks for the replies guys.
Thanks for the chart SoundMike.
