just bought the meguiars clay bar kit. comes with a detail/lubricant bottle and the clay bar itself. i never clayed before, but the bar seems kinda small. silly question, but how big are these bars suppose to be?

The one I use is probably 3"x4", but you have to keep mashing it up and remolding it so I like to keep it smaller than my palm. That way the sides of my hands can feel the surface and also to form a barrier so I don't drop the bar.

it says three times, I bought the same kit two weeks ago. btw, some say to just use water and add a little soap, I prefer the spray that comes with the kit though. although, i'll prolly use soap and water after the spray runs out.

It's a good idea to cut up your clay bar into 3-5 pieces. This will allow you to use the pieces only as much as you need. If you can finish the car with 2 pieces they you have a couple more for next time. If you drop the one you're using and it picks up rocks and dirt you can toss it and just use another one.
