plan a whole day for this first off..... I did it once and I won't do it again. I'll pay a professional to do it. I did it for the same reason, the purple tint should be outlawed!!! lol

anyway, its been about 10 years ago when I did it, but I think I remember the just of it. I used a razor blade to start it in the top corner, so you can get a good grip of it, then you just tear it off. Depending on how long it has been on there, it might come off pretty good. Hopefully you will be able to rip it all off in one piece. If however you aren't that lucky(as I was) then you'll have to use something like goof off and your razor blade to get it off. Mine came off in many, many, many, many pieces..... Like I said before, I'll be paying someone next time. Not trying to scare you, just warning you bud. Hopefully yours will come off, and its very possible since the car is only 5 years old. Mine was on alot older truck. Good luck, if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

really just depends on how it comes off. It being curved will have no effect I would think, remember, I did say think!!!! I wouldn't suggest using a blade on it as you might damage the rear defrost. And if you do, I'd be awful careful where you put that blade. good luck and let me know how it goes.

here's a couple sites that give some helpful hints....

I just used ammonia and a razor. I can do a window in about 20 minutes; rear windshield is a pain though...

wait for a warm day, it'll help with the removal. for my 3rd gen, i sprayed down the tint with windex and let it sit in the sun for awhile. then i scraped it off using CLEAN AND NEW razor blades. it came off pretty easily. just be ready to use several blades during the process. never use dull or old razor blades, since you can scratch the glass.

all i know for the rear window, get a huge hefty bag, tear it open to a huge piece, big enough to cover the whole rear window. Make sure its a hot hot day. get a regular spray bottle, mix water with dish wash soap.
spray it all over the rear windows, then get the hefty bag, and put on on the rear window (It will hold the bag since its wet) and close all your windows, and let the car bake in the sun.
give it about an hr and half, come back to your car, remove the bag, and with a razor blade just peel off one corner or the top of the tint, you will be amazed on how the tint will come off.
Good luck, pm me if you have questions, and with the side windows, just use a razor blade.

Why did it take u all day. i take tint off cars at work probably at least once a day and the only thing that takes the longest is the rear windshield. each window takes about 10 minutes with a razor and windex.

yeah it shouldn't take that long for each window. but i'd way for a warm day though. it make things a lot easier, or you can use a heat gun.

As I said before, this was 10 years ago, and I did this on a truck that had some very old tint on it, it was brittle and wouldn't pull off in one piece, I knew nothing about removing tint, and I didn't even have a puter or the org.. (how I survived is beyond me) anyway, the truck had a sliding glass window which meant instead of 1 window in the rear, it had 4 small windows, and I don't know what they put the tint on with, I swear it must have been some sort of glue, whoever did it had no clue to what they were doing, it had bubbles all in it, so there is no telling how they put it on. I'd say it being on for so long is the reason it took so long. I don't know though.

heavily applied warm water out of a spray bottle and a razor blade did wonders in my old car except for the rear windshield...be careful nto to pull too hard on the tint though b/c its possible with enough force to pull your window out of alignment

I peeled my tint off fairly easily.

The hardest part of it is taking the GLUE off. I still haven't!

Yea, I would not want to risk my rear window. I would get it professionally done to make sure they do all the windows correctly. It probably isn't too expensive to have tint removed.

I'm going to attempt removing the tint from my wifes car this weekend. The current tint looks like crap, bubbles and what not. I'm going to try using a heat gun, razor blade & hot water.

my dad use to own a dealership so we would remove the tint from a lot of cars just b/c it looked tacky (the bubles/purple tint)....Discoved razorblade and ammonia are best. Another thing that works well to remove the glue is nail polish remover (especially those that have acetone in them) works out quite nicely.

Easiest way to get it off, take to a professional..Most of them , if its a good place, will use a steam gun, takes less than 15 mins...Its not worth all the hassel, and is cheap..Dont be cheap a$$ and just pay them to do it and save yourself the aggrevation.............. Good luck
