polishing ????

The key thing to polishing is knowing the condition of your finish before undertaking that step. You don't want to get something too harsh if your finish does not call for it or something too light that doesn't do jack when you are polishing the car.
Therefore, the first thing is to determine the current state of the paint. That means look for imperfections such as bird bomb etching, swirl marks, or certain kinds of scratches.

So what kind of polish do you recommend for
1) cars w/ perfect paint condition
2) cars w/ decent paint condition - swirl marks here and there
3) cars that never seen any polish
Nothing fancy. Preferably something over the counter or something that can be easily found and ordered on the internet.
I use Klasse on my cars which are fairly new but I do need to remove some swirl marks.

I use Klasse all the time and I was told that SSR2.5 will take care of the swirl marks. I usually have light swirl marks on my dark car after im done polishing after the rainfall. Its a mild swirl remover and can be used before the Klasse and after the clay bar
Can be found at Autogeek.net for 13$

To answer Ammi's Questions.....

Products like Klasse or Zaino

It depends on how severe the swirl marks here and there are. If they are light, products like 3M Swirl Mark remover will do the trick. If they are moderate, you might have to attack them using products like Meguiar's Dual Action Cleaner Polish, Poorboys SSR 2.5, Menzerna Intensive Polish or Sonus SFX-2
3) cars that never seen any polish
Again, dependent on the situation. The strongest things I have in my arsenal are Menzerna Power Gloss, 3M Rubbing Compound, Poorboys SSR-1, and Sonus SFX-1.
